It's a perfect world, where everything looks right. But ugly truths lie beneath…

Imagine a world without poverty, war or pain. A world where everything is comfortable and familiar - a world where everything is the same. No colour, no music. In such a world, Jonas is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory and is apprenticed to the Giver, an old man who stores memories from the Community’s past. As Jonas learns about violence and sadness, as well as beauty and joy, he discover the sinister truth behind his safe existence.

Simply and beautifully written, The Giver is a thought-provoking look at utopian society. It was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1994.

The giver is a wonderfull book with many surprise turns and the best ending I have seen in a long time. We really take feelings, color, and love for granted!

I started it, and it is really good

This book is an awesome book, but it is very slow. If you like a lot action in books, this book is not going to be a thumbs up. That is why I put 4 star rating.

Jonas is not afraid of turning 12, he is just nervous bc thats when he gets his job.

This book is really, really good. I didn't want to read it, but I had to for school and I ended up loving it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes books like Divergent or about other dystopian societies.

I just started, but nothing really happens yet. Why is Jonas afraid of turning twelve?
