It's a perfect world, where everything looks right. But ugly truths lie beneath…

Imagine a world without poverty, war or pain. A world where everything is comfortable and familiar - a world where everything is the same. No colour, no music. In such a world, Jonas is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory and is apprenticed to the Giver, an old man who stores memories from the Community’s past. As Jonas learns about violence and sadness, as well as beauty and joy, he discover the sinister truth behind his safe existence.

Simply and beautifully written, The Giver is a thought-provoking look at utopian society. It was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1994.

UNICORN UNICORN

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! IT'S THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!! the movie left out alot of details.

I really want to read this book it sounds just like divergent, which I watched almost all of the movies. This book looks like it is full of mysteries and challenges.

My favorite book! This book is a great book for a book group. The Giver really makes you think.

It was very inspirational. It was practically a different world and I felt like I was right in the middle of it.

Once there was a boy named Jonas. Life was not right in his town. They had a woman producing kids and taking them to a special center where they take care of them. They leave at a certain age to their families. In Jonas’ community people has a job they had to obey it.

Crazy society gone wrong book! Really loved Jonah's spirit and courage to go against the society and follow his heart!

This book is about a community that is all controlled. They do not have feelings or can not see color. When Jonas was assigned a role in his community that is very important. The receiver. He will make a life changing decision will he survive?

the ending made me mad
