Fourteen-year-old Miri lives on a mountain where her ancestors have quarried stone and lived in poverty for generations. Miri getsa chosen to go to a princess academy and her whole life turns upside down! She overcomes many hardships. This is a very good book.

Every time a prince is born the priests find a new city or town. In this town the prince must find his wife. 17 and 1/2 years later every girl aged 12 to 17 in Mount Eskel (the town) must go to the princess academy (living by a quarry doesn't really qualify you to be queen one day.) And after your year of training there is a ball in which the prince chooses his bride. Miri the main character is the smartest of them all has to find ways to get the whole group out of trouble as well as her self. Torn between wanting to marry the prince and going back to Mount Eskel, Miri tries to deal with there mean teacher, the long trek home and their small workspace.

great book! I love the story! If you read it you will love it.

Princess Academy was really good, and my favorite book. It involves a girl named Miri who is forced to attend an academy on a mountain (that the king's minister set up) where all the girls in the village will learn the skills of a proper princess. The prince will come to the village soon to choose his bride, but Miri has more that awaits than can be prepared.
