If you need a semi-automatic weapon for hunting, you're probably a terrible hunter. They don't want to take away all of your guns, just the unnecessarily powerful ones most commonly used for mass murders, such as AR-15s and other semi-automatic weapons. Handguns and shotguns will still be legal and obtainable.Almost 7 years agoshybaldbuddhist replied to a comment in
They're marching to ban unnecessary weapons, like AR-15s and other semi-automatic weapons. Not guns altogether. Background checks are mandatory in Florida but sometimes violence and mental illnesses are not documented and therefore a mentally ill/violent person will still be able to get their hands on a deadly weapon. If the federal government bans semi-automatic weapons, mass shootings will be much less likely to happen.Almost 7 years agoshybaldbuddhist replied to a comment in
They're not marching to ban guns altogether, they're marching to ban semi-automatic weapons. Guns that are used for self-defense and hunting, like shotguns or handguns, will still be available for people to purchase.Almost 7 years agoshybaldbuddhist replied to a comment in

The military is keeping their guns. People are keeping their guns. But semi-automatic guns should be banned, as they are very unnecessary. You can keep your handguns for hunting or self defense. Yes, of course those things you listed can cause injury, but have you heard of a mass murder using glass? Knives? Cars? Even if you have, they are much less common than murders with semi-automatic guns. What's sick is that mentally ill people can get their hands on weapons than can easily kill 17 people, or even more.Almost 7 years agoshybaldbuddhist replied to a comment in
It's much more likely that someone will use a gun than a knife for a mass murder. Think about it - it's much easier to shoot long range than run up to 17 people and stab them without being attacked or caught more easily. Nobody's saying it's the gun's fault, that's irrational. We're talking about getting rid of semi-automatic weapons that are completely unnecessary whether you're a hunter or not, and keeping them out of an unstable PERSON's hands.Almost 7 years agoshybaldbuddhist replied to a comment in
They're banning semi-automatic weapons, not guns in general. Sure it won't completely stop people from obtaining guns, but it will greatly reduce the chance of this thing happening again.Almost 7 years agoshybaldbuddhist replied to a comment in

You must not have read the whole thing - they're not marching to ban guns in general, they're marching to ban semi-automatic weapons most commonly used to commit mass murders. Background checks are mandatory in Florida, but obviously they didn't stop an unstable 19 year old from obtaining an AR-15 and shooting up a high school.Almost 7 years ago
