Because they're kids and they're able to imagine things that aren't necessarily logical but can actually be implemented and put to use in this case.Almost 7 years agoduckie2085 added a new comment in
I’ve always loved books that have a new twist on fairy tales, and I started to read the excerpt. Probably after the first two pages, I was hooked. I was looking for books that were part of giveaways, and this one caught my eye. The illustrations are beautiful, too. I also like to read about magic, so this book basically has everything I like in a book.About 7 years agoduckie2085 added a new comment in
What I love about this series is the fact that it has some truth to it. In some ways. It's not just a figment of someone's imagination. It is, but it's supplemented by many photographs. There's no telling exactly how real they are, but you can't wave it off as photoshop. So, from sets of photo, this series came out. I watched the trailer to the movie, but I figured I should read the books first. I've always thought of this series as some of those books that are slightly haunting. They're not part of the horror genre, really. It's somewhere in the middle. It doesn't even have a genre. Maybe? It's just a genre all on its own.About 7 years agoduckie2085 replied to a comment in
Slavery? Really? And the civil war? I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no idea where you're going here. During the times of slavery, the slaves were forced to come here. Now, immigrants are coming of their own accord. And the civil war? The civil war had absolutely nothing to do with immigration. The wave of immigration didn't start until years later. I can assure you nobody is thinking of slavery or the civil war right now. Just my opinion. I hope you'll take it into account.About 7 years agoduckie2085 replied to a comment in

I've noticed basically everyone in the comments has been saying something along the lines of "so sad". I would just like to point out to everyone that, first of all, it's an issue of problems that the United States has. I don't mean to be offensive, but the US has a rising national debt and people who live here and are not dreamers that are homeless or jobless. We can't just ignore their plights because people are coming in from other countries and they require assistance as well. Also, dreamers are not priorities for deportation. And since, apparently, congress disagrees with Trump's decision so strongly, they will probably pass something that protects dreamers.About 7 years agoduckie2085 added a new comment in
I've become sort of a history buff since last year, and I especially love reading about the American Revolution. I was working on some historical fiction pieces a while back for fun, and one of them took place during the American Revolution. I've been trying to continue writing it. Historical fiction requires a lot of research to make sure you're accurate, so I might use this book to help with that.About 7 years agoduckie2085 added a book review.
I also won this from the giveaway. Fifer and Thisbe are supposed to be the two main characters, but I thought they were very one sided and really just vessels for their uncontrollable magic. Speaking of that, the magic didn't come in as much as I would have liked it to. No spoilers, however. The one character whom I really enjoyed reading about was Alex, but he wasn't mentioned much since there's already an entire series on him. The plot was average, but the ending wasn't good either, at least in my opinion. I thought it was a poor attempt at a cliffhanger. All it did was scream sequel. I understand that I'm slightly above the recommended age level for this book, but I thought I would share what I thought of it.Over 7 years agoduckie2085 has read this book.

I loved this series a few years ago, and I think it would be nice to read another book, just for the sake of old memories. Yes, I would still read it. The books are really funny anyway, no matter how old you are.Over 7 years ago
