After watching the Maze Runner movies, I was interested enough to want to delve into the books, so I began the adventure with this one. We are immediately thrown into the fray, following a kid named Thomas who has no memories, just like every other "shank" in the glade. Dashner creates a mostly fascinating book, with strong characters, and I think he did a good job on it, but it almost feels as if it's missing something. I would say the thing The Maze Runner lacked most of was, as a reader, I somewhat feel a bit detached from the characters. But overall, this was a nice dystopian novel, and I'd recommend to anyone in middle school and above who's looking for a sound read.About 7 years agohappypug12 has read this book.

Wow! Just wow. You might underestimate this sit-down stand-up comedian, but underestimate no longer! Jamie Grimm is NOT another handicapped character to be pitied. He is, however, a boy who was involved in a car accident which caused him to be paralyzed from the waist down. But Jamie overcomes this with jokes. Knock-knock jokes, one-liners, puns, riddles, you name it, Jamie says them all! In this book, Coach Ball, the sports-obsessed principal, wants to close the library and use it as a sweat room for the wrestling team. Fortunately, the school board comes up with an idea: if the library can show that a majority of the students use the place, then it won't close. But here's the catch: they have to do this by the end of the month. That's when Jamie and his friends have this great idea- he teaches a joke school in the library for kids who want to be comics like him. The only thing that's a bit off with the book is that there is a pattern of him being bullied, and the author shows it in (sometimes) a way that might make you think he should be pitied. But this is the truth: HE FUNNY!About 7 years agoawesomenachos added a book review.

The thing I like about this books that is refreshes your knowledge from the previous book, and that it also gives new characters and new perspectives. Happy reading!About 7 years agoawesomenachos added a book review.
This is a great book. I read it before my dental stuffs, and it really can comfort peeps who feel insecure, whether you have braces or not. Raina goes through many ups and downs, but she eventually comes through at the end. Good for people ages 8-215. :DAbout 7 years agoawesomenachos added a book review.
This is a great book. So good, I read it twice! XD Jacky Ha-ha is a book about a girl who always feels the need to make people laugh. But it tends to sometimes bite her in the back. What I love about James Patterson's Middle School books is that with every main character, there's always something they have or do that they overcome. Jacky is a lovable and brave heroine that everyone will and should remember.About 7 years agoawesomenachos has read this book.
