The Ramona Collection, Vol. 1: Beezus and Ramona / Ramona the Pest / Ramona the Brave / Ramona and Her Father [4 Book Box set]

By Beverly Cleary

I really like the Romana series, because older sisters get to see the struggles of a younger sisters life! In Romana the Pest, Ramona is growing up and wants to become independent, but it results in her being a pest. Tried to make this short and sweet for you!

The Dragonet Prophecy (Wings of Fire, Book 1)

The Dragonet Prophecy (Wings of Fire, Book 1)

By Tui T. Sutherland

CleverGirl

This is my favorite book series EVER! I really wish they'd make a movie of the books. (Not anyone but Universal, otherwise they'd mutilate it) It has betrayal, battles, war, queens, friendship, romance, action, jokes, Hunger Games-style arena warfare, prophecies, secrets, and characters you love (Hello, DoD, and you too, Jade Winglet. Also Darkstalker, Deathbringer, and Riptide. 'Cuz they're too awesome) and characters you'll hate. (coughcough Scarlet, Morrowseer, Blister, and Burn cough) I can not believe that Warriors is more popular than this. I mean, Warriors is okay, but it kind of "lost the magic," by the time the second series rolled around. This one is still going strong. And it has DRAGONS! Not to mention, when I reread Warriors, I thought "I read this in the second grade?" (When I was in 2nd grade, I was OBSESSED with Warriors. I don't really recall why.) Long story short: 2nd grade. Bedtime. Couldn't get to sleep. Pulled out A Dangerous Path. Mom made a 'no Warriors at bedtime' rule after that. (What? Those dogs were scary as heck.) Now, this does have some violence. (Mostly in the first book, because, hey, when much of the plot revolves around an arena where dragons fight to the death, not everyone's gonna make it out alive) But unlike Warriors, you usually won't be lying awake at night because you're afraid to go to sleep. (Though I did have a couple of nightmares about these once.) All in all, this series is five stars out of five!!!!! (For age rating, I would read this to a MATURE 3rd grader and up. Don't read it to younger kids unless you know them well and they are very hardy. I mean, like, 2nd grade. Don't read these to kindergartners. They probably wouldn't get it anyway.)

Soon a new picture comes and some of the kids make fun of him but they will soon find out how good he is. In the pitchers first game he did great. And then on Wensday the team finds out how he saved a women's life from choking. A dig game was coming up agents the greatest team in the area the Yankees. The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 3)

The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 3)

By Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, and Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, are sent to find two extremely powerful half-bloods in a military school. While trying to escort them to Camp Half-Blood, a manticore appears and ruins their plans. The iconic Hunters of Artemis come to their rescue, and the older of the two half-bloods, Bianca, decides to join them. While Kronos' army starts to build, a new prophecy arises. One that stated that the moon goddess, Artemis, is in danger, both campers and Hunters must unite. I feel that this, out of all five books, was the best. It stands out on its own. It really has depth to it, and I almost cried once or twice. But Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia have to get through it, otherwise the planet will be destroyed. New characters rise and fall, and the whole book is one big roller-coaster ride. This fantasy-mystery book will keep everyone hooked, even the mysterious General.

Because of Mr. Terupt

Because of Mr. Terupt

By Rob Buyea

Because of "Mr Terupt" by Rob Buyea is an amazing book. It takes places at the beginning of fifth grade in Snow Hill School. The book switches between the points of view Jessica, Alexia, Peter, Luke, Danielle, Anna, and Jeffrey. Jessica is a smart new girl who is having a hard time fitting in. Alexia is a bully who can't decide between being mean or nice. Peter is the class clown and troublemaker. Luke is an academic sort of person. Danielle is teased and doesn't stand up for herself. Anna is an outcast because of her family situation, and Jeffrey despises school. Then they get a brand new teacher named Mr. Terupt who makes school fun. He helps the students get along and become friends. After a horrible tragedy happens, the students learn that even when Mr. Terupt is not there, he still brings them together.I heard Rob Buyea speak about his book at a library. A lot of the things that happen in the book happened in Rob Buyea's classroom, when he taught fourth or fifth grade. I was surprised at how energetic and dramatic Rob Buyea was while he was speaking. It was really interesting to learn how Because of Mr. Terupt was written. Something I really liked about this book was the dollar word project that the students in Mr. Terupt's class did. A is one cent, B is two cents, C is three cents, and so on. The students had to write words whose letters added up to 100 cents, or $1.00. Mr. Terupt was only called Mr. Terupt because Terupt is a dollar word. Examples of dollar words are flurry, grumpy, savory, and awfully. I thought this was a great read. It was moving and showed how people's attitudes towards life can change for the better. I highly suggest it.

The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 4)

The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 4)

By Rick Riordan

I rate this book a 5/5 because it has a VERY INTERESTING plot, amazing characters, and it's even a bit funny as well! And the theme is awesome as well, I mean, greek mythology? SO cool! I definitely recommend this book to all ages (except like, preschoolers or kindergarteners of course)!! But there is one flaw.... When you start reading it, you'll want to read more and more and more! XD! So, that is why you must read percy jackson immediately!!! And guess what, if you finish this series, there's even the other series: Percy jackson and the heroes of olympus!!! And others as well that all relate to greek mythology! Like The Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase, and Trials of Apollo!

Guts

Guts

By Raina Telgemeier

I liked Guts because It tells a story that is actually interesting and it tells what she felt and how her and her parents tried to help her out and another reason I liked this book was because I also have stomach problems like that and it really shows how she was feeling and it makes me feel like I am not the only one who has stomach problems and I love how it is also relatable to what I feel like sometimes too I love how it was a mystery to see why she was having stomach trouble but also how she felt and had to deal with it because those are my favorite books to read about so I definitely recommend this to kids that are in 4th or 5th grade and if you like to read about mysteries or just like a comic book or a funny or good book I would recommend it for those people.
