The first book in the series filled with adventure and surprises.

This is a sweet story for any age. When four children are orphaned they must survive by themselves instead of living with their grandfather, who they think is cruel. Henry (age 14), Jessie (age 12), Violet (age 10), and Benny (age 6) find an abandoned boxcar and plan to make a new life there. With new adventures and problems, the four children must figure out to thrive in their new home and hide from their grandfather.

The boxcar children is a heart warming story with some adventure. 4 orphaned children find an abandoned boxcar and make it their new home. They children's parents died and there only family is there Grandpa. They think there Grandpa doesn't want them, so they go live in a boxcar. The oldest child, Henry, goes to work in a town called Silver City. They kids are happy until Violet gets sick. In the end the children are reunited with there Grandpa, who was actually looking for them.

I absolutely recommend this book for all ages. I like how the boxcar children work together and always get along. This book gives many good lessons.

I love books about mysteries and especially books that have an intriguing title. The Boxcar Children were also written by a first grade teacher which makes the series even better to read.

This book is a classic that basically everyone has read but never gets old. It is about three children who run away from their guardian and have to make a living. They find an abandoned boxcar and use that as their home for a while, all while trying to find ways to make money and keep house.

i so agree with hanacoder and how they exspress themselves is awesome and just books about children on there own making there own life decisions.

I really like this book because the characters have adventures and the best part is that they are family. It's also fun because they are running away from a mean old baker lady and her husband who want to send their brother to an orphanage.
