In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

the hunger games i love this series they are great but this one is my favorite book out of the series and the movies are great
One of the best. The other ones in the series are the other two.
Great book. I read it with my class and this is the best book out of the trilogy. It makes you prepared to read the next book. Full of adventure and shows the world just how careful we should be. Power isn't everything. Greed causes disaster.
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE EVER READ IN MY LIFE IT IS SO GOOD! (AND I'VE READ A LOT OF BOOKS!!!!!)
It looks like a good book.
This book was very very exciting. I was mad when my mom made me stop reading it. it is a little violent though!
It is a novel full of suspense and adrenaline. personally I think it was a great read.
love this book. also pretty thought-provoking because if we read about these games for our own entertainment, does that make us just as bad as those in the book that create and watch the games for theirs?
Makes since. Does make you wonder. Also, there are movies on this book. Does that mean that we are watching the hunger games? It is after all called "the hunger games"
