This book was ok but still good it is about a mystery that is very hard to solve. This is a good but confusing book.
Aren't all his books?
This is the newest book from Lemony Snicket. It's the first of four volumes that form the authorized autobiography of the author, titled "All the Wrong Questions", and act as a sort of prequel to A Series of Unfortunate Events. I say "sort of" because so far there's very little link between the two series but that's not to say there is no link at all. In this book 13 year old Lemony Snicket begins an apprenticeship to S. Theodora Markson, a woman who seems hopeless at solving the cases she's been hired for and never tells anyone what the S stands for. Snicket ends up in a town called Stain'd-by-the-sea which is a grim setting which works brilliantly. On arrival Snicket discovers a mystery involving a statue of a mythical beast and due to having a useless chaperone tries to solve this mystery himself. Fans of ASOUE will love this. It's written in the same witty and brilliant style and has the same sense of doom and depression. It's great to have a new Lemony Snicket book and I wonder if this series will answers some of the questions we've had for so long? But then again maybe that's the wrong question...
This book was a good book to read if you wanted some suspense in it. The one thing i didnt like which gave my rate a 4 star instead of a 5 star was that it was pretty confusing at some time...overall, i like it a lot. The book was about Lemony Snicket, the guy who wrote the series of unfortunate events and other amazing books, and about his teen years. He was assigned to a detective for training, though the deective he was assigned to was'nt the best detective. The case was to figure out who stole a valuable item, but the victim already knew who stole it... the whole plot was really confusing, so there were a lot of questions i had after reading this book.
A mysterious tale with twists and turns in the plot, Lemony becomes an apprentice in a secret organization to S. Theodora Markson. They work to steal a statue of the mythical Bombinating Beast in Stain’d-By-The-Sea; a small town with few businesses known for its ink that was next to the sea that was sucked up-for a customer that claims it is theirs. With a master puppeteer, Hangfire, holding captives and controlling everyone, you never know who you can trust-or why he wants that statue so badly. What I thought about it: “Who Could That Be at This Hour?” was definitely an interesting read. It was my first time reading a Lemony Snicket book, but it seemed like a good book (and had a great cover and great art inside) so I checked it out at the library. Lemony Snicket writes very well, and the story flows fluidly with quite a bit of suspense. I thought it was pretty cool that he decided to write the story with him as the main character, as not a lot of authors do that. I thought the book would be full of questions and answers with no storyline, but I was downright wrong. It had a few questions in the plot though. So if you’re wondering “Where is that screaming coming from?” “Is it too late?” and “What happened to his parents?”, then read this book!
This is a great book it has a lot of mystery so if you like mystery read this book. This book is about a boy named Lemony Snicket and his chaperone Theodora. They are trying to take a statue called the bombimating beast and return it to it's rightful owner. But the question is, is the bombimating beast already in it's rightful place.
So far, the only books I know by Lemony Snicket are A Series of Unfortunate Events and this one. I hope to make him one of my favorite authors.
