The first installment of Sarah Mylowski's New York Times bestselling series!

Mirror, mirror, on the basement wall . . .

Once upon a time my brother and I were normal kids. The next minute? The mirror in our basement slurped us up and magically transported us inside Snow White's fairy tale.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's true.

But hey -- we're heroes! We stopped Snow White from eating the poisoned apple. Hooray! Or not. If Snow White doesn't die, she won't get to meet her prince. And then she won't get her happy ending. Oops.

Now it's up to us to:
- Avoid getting poisoned
- Sneak into a castle
- Fix Snow White's story

And then, fingers crossed, find our way home.

this book is great for people who love modern fantasies

this book is great for people who love modern fantasies

This book is amazing! This book is about a girl named Abby, and her brother, Jonah. Abby's family moves to Smithville where everything is different. In the basement of Abby's new house there is a big fancy mirror. In the middle of the night, the mirror starts to hiss. The mirror turns purple, and then it slurps up Abby and her brother and puts them in Snow Whites story. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone!

I like this book very much

very interesting I borrowed it from a friend and started reading it! it is a great book so far I hope I can read the series!

There's this 10 year-old girl named Abby and she just moved to a new town. But she hates it because everything is different. One night her little brother, Jonah wakes her up and tells her that the mirror in the basement is hissing. She and Jonah go down to the basement and end up being sucked into the mirror. What I thought of it: The writing style wasn't terrible, but it definitely did annoy me. I mean it was somewhat authentic, but was over the top and became irritating within the first couple chapters. It was written in first person and the narrator kept stating the obvious and saying the same types of sentences over and over so it kind of came off as an adult trying to sound like a child. Either that, or an actual (untalented) child wrote this book. The plot was cliché. I've read a lot of other books like it, and they were all way better. The main character was boring and pretty annoying. All the parts in the book that were weren't exciting. They could have been, had they been written properly. I mean there are definitely certain books that have life and death situations but the writer purposely writes the scenes in a way that completely neutralizes the gravity of them Normally this is done for humor or sometimes to fit the main character's personality. I love normally these types of books. But I'm pretty sure that this book wasn't (supposed to be) one of those books. I'm pretty sure that the author just wasn't very good that writing the scenes. But on the off chance it was intentional, the author still failed. Miserably. This book moved too quickly. It should've been longer, but if it were any longer, they would've been chance of me reading/finishing it. This book honestly doesn't deserve 2 stars but I was feeling generous today. Overall, it wasn't a good book and I don't recommend it to anyone.

I actually was VERY disappointed with this book as well. The writing style.. bothered me, to say the least. I agree, I know an adult wrote this particular book (and if a child wrote this, you have to give them points because it's REALLY hard to get a book published, especially if you're a child) and it sounded exactly like an adult trying to sound like a child. I could relate to the main character, Abby (I want to go into law and I have a brother) but besides that, she's perfectly normal.. and cliche. I love fairy-tales and I was hoping this would be an ORIGINAL, fresh twist, but this really wasn't. The writer could have pulled off some scenes way better with some work - I think the editor could have helped along with the writing process - I mean, the editor's supposed to do that! The fact that the result is this means that the original book was way, way worse *shudders* I used to love this book.. but I guess some people's opinions change. This author keeps making new books in the "series" and I'm not sure when this is going to end! Quite honestly, I'm afraid the books get worse as they go along.

I know right! The entire book, I was thinking "Where was the editor? Did he/she go on vacation and they decide to just release the book before he/she got back?" But you're right. It probably is really hard to get a book published when you're kid. I'm a writer and though I haven't tried to get any of my stories published yet, I definitely hope to someday. Still, if I were a publisher, I probably wouldn't publish this book...

I actually self-published a book when I was in second grade through a writing program... but it was really, really bad *winces* I probably might not publish this book.. but I might due to my insanely huge OBSESSION over fairy-tales and spin-offs of fairy-tales.

It's really cool that you self-published a book even if it wasn't any good. Have you read the Sisters Grimm? It's another fairy-tale spin-off series, and I assure you it's much better than this one. It's actually one of my favorite book series. You would check it out if you haven't read it already.

I think I plagiarized a really, really famous book I'm sure you'll know in second grade.. oops.. Now I know plagiarism is much, much more serious :D But anyway, yes, I do know the Sisters Grimm series! It's amazing! I have the first book, but I've yet to read the second.. or the series... But Daphne and Sabrina are the perfect sibling duo - they balance each other out much better than Abby and Jonah do in this book :D

I agree completely. Sabrina and Daphne are way better than Abby and Jonah (even though Sabrina annoys me at times). That's probably the reason I disliked this book so much. It was similar to one of my favorite series, The Sisters Grimm (being a fairy-tale spin off), but it wasn't half as good. I've read the entire series 2 and a half times. The books get better as the series goes on (then they stop getting better, but they're still pretty good). So I hope you end up reading the rest of them :).

Sabrina and Daphne are almost completely different from each other at the beginning, but Abby and Jonah - they just have different interests, they're not completely different as in personality.. and I'm going to the library today, (I have a huge reading list haha, first time I went to the library all summer) and I think I'll get the second and third books in the Sisters Grimm book as well :D By the way, what do you rate the Sisters Grimm?

I'm glad :). I hope you enjoy the series as much as I did. I think I rate the whole Sisters Grimm series a 4. I think I'd rate the first book a 4 as well.

Great book! About a girl that just moved and and there's a magic mirror. The mirror takes her places and the first place was to snow white! There's more books to the series, like to Cinderella's. Just because it's a princess book, it can be for boys as well. I REMEMBER IN 5th grade whish was 2 years ago, our teacher read it to us and all the boys enjoyed it as well as girls. Some of the boys had the nerve to check out the 2nd book!😹😹

This book is the first book to the whatever after sieries. It is a good book and I recommend it. It's about a girl who moved and in their new house is a mirror that can take them in fairytales. Changing different fairytales, read the seaquls as well!

I loved this book. Ofcourse probably a girl book! I have been to Disney on the old snow white ride and am a fan . To imagine a story outside of this is so amazing!

This book was incredibly cheesy and boring. Oh no! snow Whit ate a poisonous apple! It is up to Abby to save her! I do NOT recommend it if you hate princess stories.
