He may be clueless, but the comically self-confident Timmy Failure is CEO of the best detective agency in town, perhaps even the nation. Now Timmy’s legion of fans are invited to set off on their own path to mastery with the help from Stephan Pastis. Added material includes step-by-step instructions on how to draw Timmy and his impressively lazy business partner, the polar bear Total—including a trick to making them both look a tiny bit nuts (hint: the secret is in the eyes). Even better, kids are invited to share the spotlight with Timmy by sending their drawings to his website, for a chance to be featured in the Timmy Failure Gallery of Greatness.

He doesn’t like to pull rank. To reveal that he’s this guy: Timmy Failure, founder, president, and CEO of the greatest detective agency in town, perhaps the nation. But he is. And he’s about to crack the biggest case of his generation: a school competition to find a stolen globe. It’s his ticket to bringing home a $500 prize, which is guaranteed to set him up for life. But someone is clearly trying to game the system. Hoodwink. Con. Defraud. So it’s up to Timmy Failure, with the dubious help of Total, his lazy polar-bear partner, and his unlikely new ally, eccentric Great-Aunt Colander, to find a way to avenge these shenanigans. Defeat this injustice. If he can only get his entry form in on time.
Timmy Failure is a detective. He runs Total Failure, Inc. with his pet polar bear. He takes all sorts of cases, and charges 5 cents a day, hoping that it will all add up one day so he can become rich – he already has his eye on a place in town. He uses his mom’s segway to get from case to case, but one day that segway gets stolen by the Evil One: Corrina Corrina. Timmy hates her; she also runs a Detective Agency that is sort of competition, and since her dad has a lot of money, her Agency has its’ home in a fancy building. So Timmy is off to find the segway, ALL while keeping it a secret from his mom. In a comical, humorous story, Pastis kicks off Timmy’s adventures in a lovable book. What I thought about it: I loved Timmy Failure. It was a great story in the format of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but it was completely different and original. I was very happy that it was not just the “he has problems at school, and he isn’t a lucky person” type of illustration and novel. Stephan Pastis brought a new idea, and school is not the main focus, it’s Timmy’s Detective Agency. Timmy thinks he is the best detective in the world, even though his agency’s space is his mom’s closet. All of the characters were very unique, and thinking about a kid having a pet polar bear is quite out of this world, but yet it works in this book! I think Timmy is in his own little world – it’s him and his detective agency against the Evil One. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh out loud – it was clever and funny at the same time. I can’t wait to read the next book. Thumbs up for Timmy Failure!

I loved this book! I loved Timmy because he is different than the the Nate the Great and The diary of a Wimpy Kid characters. It was a fun and short read and he has a pet Polar Bear!

It is a really funny and good book. The creator, Stephan Pastis, also has a comic strip. The comic strip is funny and good too. Stephan Pastis is a great writer and is very humorous. I recommend this book to everyone.
