A hilarious Southern debut with the kind of characters you meet once in a lifetime

Rising sixth grader Miss Moses LoBeau lives in the small town of Tupelo Landing, NC, where everyone's business is fair game and no secret is sacred. She washed ashore in a hurricane eleven years ago, and she's been making waves ever since. Although Mo hopes someday to find her "upstream mother," she's found a home with the Colonel--a café owner with a forgotten past of his own--and Miss Lana, the fabulous café hostess. She will protect those she loves with every bit of her strong will and tough attitude. So when a lawman comes to town asking about a murder, Mo and her best friend, Dale Earnhardt Johnson III, set out to uncover the truth in hopes of saving the only family Mo has ever known.

Full of wisdom, humor, and grit, this timeless yarn will melt the heart of even the sternest Yankee.

My book is called Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage. My book is about a girl, Mo, who was adopted by 2 people she calls Colonel and Mrs. Lana. A murder has occurred in their small town and Detective Joe Starr comes to investigate. After time passes Mo and her best friend, Dale, also investigate. I really enjoyed this book and thought the author was very descriptive when describing characters. The characters were very realistic and had many different traits along with great personalities. Any person who loves a good mystery should read this book. This is because, this book is full of mysteries and they are being solved all throughout the book. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. All the characters do not exist, but they could have and there is not any type of magic. One piece of internal conflict was when Mrs. Lana was kidnapped. Mo was very sad and was having a hard time being herself. A piece of external conflict (Man vs Man) is when Mo found her parents and figured out that Deputy Marla had kidnapped them.

I read the book Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage. The book is about a boy and a girl named Mo and Dale. They live in a small town, called Tupelo Landing, that not many people know about. There has been a murder in the town and Mo and Dale start a club known as Desperado Detectives in order to figure out who killed their close friend, Mr. Jesse. They want to know why anybody would harm such a nice man like him. My opinion on the book is that it is a hilarious, suspenseful mystery that was very well written. I would always want to know what would happen next in the story. For example, the author made it suspenseful by foreshadowing parts that lead to Mr. Jesse's murder. I would rate this book a 5/5 because it is one of my favorite books. The book is realistic fiction because murders can happen in real life. People would have to get to the bottom of the crime just like they did in the story. It can also be realistic fiction because Mo and Dale created a detective club and some kids could also start their own club like this. The type of audience that should read this book are kids that are about 12-14 years old. This is because it has a murder in it and it might not be appropriate for lower ages. This book could also be for someone that is a little older than 14 if they like mystery and suspense in books. The problem in this book is how Mo and Dale are left clueless on why anybody would harm Mr. Jesse. An internal conflict in this book is how Mo has no mother because her mother left her at sea and she ended up floating to the small town, Tupelo Landing, without parents. An external conflict in the book is how Mo and Dale are trying to solve the mystery of who killed Mr. Jesse.

I really like this book! It is about a girl who was left behind by her mother (or so she thought) and is raised by a cafe owner. But when the family is accused of a murder, it is up to her to save them.

this book is good. I didn't read the book, but I heard it in a CD that I got from a public library. My sister and I played the CD like 5 times.

Mo LoBeau is a smooth-talking, soon-to-be 6th grader who has no idea about her origins, or parents for that matter. She has been raised by Miss Lana, owner of the local cafe, and the Colonel, who found her a day old in a hurricane and was found having no memory of his past. After Mo's best friend Dale "borrows" Mr. Jesse Tatum's boat, the said Mr. Jesse is found murdered! On top of all that, the Colonel is missing too! Can Mo find the murderer or Colonel before it's too late?

ok book but not my favorite took me a while to read and i was not a fan of how slow it went for me.

This is a great book. This book is a little scary but for mystery lovers like me but I love it.This is exactly why I did not read it at night.

I loved this book. I always love a good mystery. But its kind of scary at some parts but its still good. ( that's why i didn't read it a night. )

i liked this because they were lucky 3 times. showed that you cant be lucky all the time. my mom tells me that alot but now i get it. i think my mom read this book and just didnt tell anybody.

Three times lucky means that she was lucky her mother sent her away, that her raft stayed afloat, and that she washed ashore in tupelo landing

I loved this book! I am very picky with books and I read this for a book report. I was extremely surprised and this ended up being my favorite book for about a year! You'll laugh, you'll cry! This book really has it all. If you are up for a thrilling adventure read Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage!
