In Chinese, peng you means friend. But in any language, all Anna knows for certain is that friendship is complicated.

When Anna needs company, she turns to her books. Whether traveling through A Wrinkle in Time, or peering over My Side of the Mountain, books provide what real life cannot—constant companionship and insight into her changing world.

Books, however, can’t tell Anna how to find a true friend. She’ll have to discover that on her own. In the tradition of classics like Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy-Tacy books and Eleanor Estes’ One Hundred Dresses, this novel subtly explores what it takes to make friends and what it means to be one.

i love this book

I liked it. I don’t get why it’s called The Year of the Book because it wasn’t about Anna with one book for a whole year. She read a lot of different books. And she did make friends. She became friends with Laura. I think you should read this book.

I really loved this book. It reminded me of all of my friends and the bonds we made with each other throughout all of the hardships and challenges we faced in life, whether in school, outside school, on a trip or something. This book really reminded me of how important friendship was and how to keep it. When you need company you can't always turn to your books for company, you need to have real friends to guide you, comfort you, make jokes and most importantly, be there for you. I would recommend this book to others. Enjoy!

According to what you said, I think I want to read it!
