The Witches This story is about a boy that lives in Norway with his grandmother and they know how to recognize a witch. The boy´s father died and he had to move to England. They had to pass some time in the hotel magnificent, it was full of rats. Some witches were having a meeting and the boy was there training his mice.He heard they wanted to turn all children into mice. Then one witch said:”I smell dog droppings!” Then the boy turned into a mouse. But what the witches didn't notice he was a mouse-person. Will the world be full of rats? W The witchesill the boy and her grandmother save the world? I liked this book because of all of the funny words that Roald Dahl includes as Inkland, Blabblesnitch, Grrobblesvirt or the funny way of talking of the Grand High Witch! My favourite part was the one of the meeting. As you read this book you might wonder What will happen next or will the boy be safe, Will he be a mouse forever?, Will he stop the witches. Read this book and find out. I recomend this book highly to any child that likes fantasy and mystery.Hope you read it!!!!

How scary! If you love books about witches and this book had some great descriptions of these nasty creatures! Roald Dahl is so fun to read!

A boy lives with his grandmother in USA since his parents died in a car crash. The boy’s favourite thing there is his grandmother’s stories about witches. A sunny day, she tells her grandson how to recognise a witch: they wears gloves, they wear a wig because they are bald and some things like that. One day,the boy’s holidays start and she wants to take him to Norway, her native land. Tragically, she gets sick days before the trip. When she recovers, the doctor sais she couldn’t travel that far so they went to a hotel nearby. In the hotel, there was a RSPCC (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children) meeting in the hall. The boy of our story, meanwhile, had been training his little white mice in the same hall the meeting was taking place in. But unfortunately, when the meeting started, the boy realized that they weren’t the RSPCC, but horrible, repulsive, children hating WITCHES! If you want to know what happened to the boy, read this book! I enjoyed this book because it has suspense, fiction, fun, and much more! For example, the funniest part is when the Grand High witch talks because she has a very funny accent. It had suspense because the grandmother never tells why she is missing a thumb but the boy suspects that it had been done to her while she was a witch catcher. The characters all have many special features such as a missing thumb and big nostrils.Roald Dahl likes to exaggerate many features on the characters and for that he uses many adjectives and he mixes many features I recommend this book because I could almost see the horrible witches Roald Dahl describes and because I love all the “magic” within it. This is a great book for kids between 8 and 14 who love magic and fiction.

Be careful This is not a fairy tale. This is about real witches. This book is about a grandmother and her grandson. His big and old grandmother is a specialist on witches, she knew all about them. One time, she had met one of them, but only once. That was the first, but not the last. He wanted to know all about them. She told him all she knew about witches: How to recognize them and their characteristics. “...In the first place”she said”a REAL WITCH is certainly always going to be wearing gloves when you meet her...”. When he went on vacations with his grandmother, he went to a place in the hotel where he could teach his mice some tricks. He couldn't find any place to do this. Finally, he found a big room with no windows. A very long time had passed since he was there, when a group of women went into the small room. He discovered that the characteristics that his grandmother had told him about witches were the same that he could see about these strange women. They were witches and they were planning a terrible , terrible plan. Do you think the witches plan will triumph? Do you think the child will be discovered by the witches or do you think the child will go out safely? I like Roald Dahl style of writing because he makes you feel like you are in the story and you see a clear picture of the scene. For example: When the child is in the room with the witches he makes you feel like you have to stay still or if not they are going to discover you. Roald Dahl did it with the help of the illustrator, Quentin Blake. With his illustrations it is easier to understand. “ I recommend this book because “magical” things and extraordinary things happen and because I love real witches... but they are disgusting. If you like real witches’ stories, you should read this book . If you don't like real witches you should read this book too. It is awesome!

By:Sofi T. Author: Roald Dahl REVIEW The Witches is a very humorous book, that has a lot of imagination. It is about a boy and his grandmother that embark on a very special and dangerous mission, THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO TRACK DOWN THE WITCHES!!!!!!!. With the help of the grandmother who years ago was a witchopile, a specialist on witches. These witches are seen just like regular pretty, kind women. They really are bald, but they wear wigs. They really have claws but they wear gloves. And one more thing they DON´T have fingers on their toes, they have SQUARE FEET!!.But first they have to find where they have their secret meeting. Where the Grand High Witch gives a lesson to each and everyone of the witches in the world. ¿What evil plan will the Grand High Witch have this time? ¿Will the boy and his grandmother ever stop them? My favourite part of this fantastic book is when the secret meeting is done, and the silly things that the Grand High Witch says. She can't even pronounce words well!!!. I liked it because: It is adventurous and the topic of “Witches” interests me. Has some silly and unbelievable things. I highly recommend this book to children who like mysterious things and likes to laugh. It is a silly book, Roald Dahl always was a little bit crazy with imagination. Most likely for 9+ aged children. GOT INTERESTED????? READ THIS BOOK!!!!!

By Roald Dahl Reviewed by:Juanita (age 9) This story is about witches. There was also a character called Boy who was 8 years old when he went to his grandma’s house and his grandma told him stories about how to recognise a witch. The witches disguised themselves as being young and pretty but they are not. The witches have claws , they don’t have feet , they are bald as boiled eggs and they hate children. But the most ugly is the GRAND HIGH WITCH. Can all the children of the world be saved from the ugly witches ? I enjoyed the part when grandma gives Boy the two white mice because it is a generous act from grandma’s. This is my favorite part because I liked the part that Boy gets very happy because grandma bought him the two white mice. I recommend this story to my cousin Cami because it is very appropriate for the age between 8 and 12 and for children who love reading fantasy books. :) :) :)
