This summer the Penderwick sisters have a wonderful surprise: a holiday on the grounds of a beautiful estate called Arundel. Soon they are busy discovering the summertime magic of Arundel’s sprawling gardens, treasure-filled attic, tame rabbits, and the cook who makes the best gingerbread in Massachusetts. But the best discovery of all is Jeffrey Tifton, son of Arundel’s owner, who quickly proves to be the perfect companion for their adventures.
The icy-hearted Mrs. Tifton is not as pleased with the Penderwicks as Jeffrey is, though, and warns the new friends to stay out of trouble. Which, of course, they will—won’t they? One thing’s for sure: it will be a summer the Penderwicks will never forget.
Deliciously nostalgic and quaintly witty, this is a story as breezy and carefree as a summer day.

If your thinking of reading this book and judge it by its cover don't. This is an awesome book! Rosalind,Skye, Jane, and Elizabeth aka Batty ,are four sisters that are very different! Since their mom died from cancer after Batty was born Rosalind the oldest is the "mother" of the family. Skye the second child is really energetic and sometimes her " big mouth" gets her in trouble. Jane the third oldest ( as you can tell from my pattern) is really romantic and loves to write stories about Sabrina Starr a character she made up.And Batty the littlest always wears wings and her best friend is their dog Hound. The story starts out that the Penderwicks' summer cottage is sold and they need one for the summer( cause summer isn't summer without a summer cottage to stay in). They find one on the property of a mansion. The rest of the story tells how they spend their summer and as you can tell from the cover with two rabbits and a a couple of interesting boys. When my mom recommended this book I said no because I judged it by the cover but when I saw it on here I decided to read and review it just to get a book prize but I actually picked the Penderwicks for my prize after I read it . I can't stop telling you how much I love love love this book!
This book is for the ones who love adventure. The 4 Penderwick sisters set off to go to Arundel Hall for some summer fun, but they find much more than that... Read to find out more!
This book is for the ones who like adventure and exploration. It is about 4 sisters who spend their summer at Arundel Hall. They don't think it will be very fun, but end up meeting a boy named Jeffrey and not wanting to leave.
This book is really good. The Penderwicks spend the Summer exploring and going on adventures. They meet a new friend named Jeffery who accompanies then on their adventures. I recommend this book if you want a fun read.
The Penderwicks is a funny, heartwarming story about family. Starting out, it is a little dull, but it definitely begins to make you laugh, cry, and relate to all of the characters. Be it artsy Jane, crazy Sky, sweet Batty, or thoughtful Rosaline, each character appeals to you in a different way. They all must make do with each other to make a dramatic summer even more fun. This book includes everything, from boy drama to war to death, and leaves you with a good, happy feeling at the end. This is a perfect summer read for people who enjoy sweet stories that take their time.
As you can tell by the title it is about 4 sisters, 2 rabbits and 1 boy. (Can you see the pattern? Divide by 2) It is about a summer that the Penderwick's shall never forget.
I just love this book. I listened to it even before I could read the book. I loved each character for a different reason and they all had a very good reason to be there. The Penderwick family spend a summer in a place full of unexpected things - and people. The sisters end up hatching plans to try to help their new friend Jeffrey out and not all end up as planned.
This is a book that everyone can relate to. The Penderwick sisters are raised by their absent-minded, widower father, and this makes them very independent in this book. They meet new friends with their own problems and the girls do their best to help, often getting into trouble along the way. This book is so real, with events that anyone might come across, although, probably not all together. I recommend this book and it's sequels to any reader who wants a family adventure story.
This is one of my fav books! Rosalind's maybe-boyfriend dramas, Batty's bunny adventures, Jane's Sabrina Star fantasy, and Skye's soccer and escapades with the dreadful Mrs. Tifton and Dexter Duprey make me laugh out loud every time I read it! I have it on my ipod so I've listened to it many times! I love this book!!!:)
