Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

persey jackson by rick riordan is the best book you can ever read in the univers. you will never read eney thing beter.

I liked this book because I have a strong interest in mythology and Ancient Greek history. If you're willing to read this book, be prepared to spend countless hours reading the entire series.

One of the best books ever.

I enjoyed reading this book because I think the plot is super creative and also because I could relate to the characters in the book. This is about Percy Jackson, a boy in New York who gets into trouble at every school he goes to and ends up being expelled. The book starts when Percy Jackson is sent to Yancy Academy, a boarding school for troubled teens, they go on a feild trip, where Percy runs a sword through his math teacher and she evaporates. Then Percy gets sent to a camp where he realizes that he is the son of Posiden, and a wannabe in olympus who is accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries and fantasies, and ESPECIALLY if they also love Greek mythology, because I love how the author combines greek stories with the modern world. As I was reading this book I could feel myself looking at the world from Percy's perspective and I could understand his feelings and the reasons behind his motives. I can't wait to go on to the next book!

It has a really good plot. I recommend it to every one who likes harry potter. Also it is a good book for middle school students.

This is physically the best book of all time. I don't care what others say. This book is so funny, so not boring, and anything else that you could ever want a book to have. If the movie didn't leave a good impression on you about the book, ignore it. There have been very few movies that have been as good as the book and unfortunatly, The Lightning Thief movie was not one of them. The book talks about Percy's struggle as a dyslexic and how he also copes with ADHD while also having to save the world. Piece of cake, right? I love this book because it shows that no matter what you do, who you are, what you have, you always belong. It may not seem like it, but as soon as you find your centaur and pen, you're good to go.
