Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Percy Jackson is a great guy.

a great start to a great series where percy realizes he is a halfblood and goes on adventures with his friends.

I love this book soooo much that i keep on reading it over and over again. Some people might not like it but i love it

This is seriously one of the best fiction book I have ever read. Percy Jackson, who was a normal kid until one day, the school took them on a field trip and his math teacher turned into a monster and told him to return something back. When he went back home, his mom and his friend Grover quickly drove him to Camp Half-Blood. He soon found out that Zeus, God of the Sky, thought that the Percy stole his lightning bolt, so in order to prove that he wasn't the one who stole the lightning bolt, poor Percy had to find the bolt in 10 days. My favorite part is when Percy was fighting with Ares to get the bolt back. I would recommend this book to whoever likes Greek Mythology and fiction books.

Realistic Fiction actually. :P

This Boook Is amaaaaaaaazing because he has zeus's lightning bolt and he is the son of the god you know who... Percy is the son of neptune

Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. He's the son of Poseidon

Percy is the son of Poseidon not Neptune. unless their is a plot twist further in the series!!

I have seen the movie but I think the book is better. My friend has it so I am going to see if she will let me barrow it when she is done reading the book. Or maybe I can see if it is in my school library.

this book is an awesome book! when I started I could not put it down because unlike harry potter, this book actually starts off interesting! I really recommend this book for somebody who likes mythology and adventure.

I loved all the action and passion. The whole book is amazing. If you love Greek mythology, you should read this book. Way to go Rick Riordan!( Author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

i think this book is a good book for children who are 9-20 because we can understand more of what is going on.

Awesome book. The story was really interesting and leaves you wanting more. Also, this book can teach you a little bit of Greek mythology and its funny too XD
