Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

This book is great! It's about a twelve-year-old named Percy Jackson who gets kicked out of all the schools he attends. But something really strange happens on a field trip. He was getting mad at Nancy Bobofit, a bully who keeps picking on Percy and his best friend Grover. He was approaching her but Grover held him back, saying he wouldn't want to get in trouble again on this field trip with his favorite and only favorite teacher, Mr. Brunner. So Percy didn't do anything, but a huge wave coming from the fountain where Nancy was sitting hit her, and she was soaked. She automatically pointed at Percy and said that he did it when he didn't. Then, Percy's least favorite teacher Mrs. Dodds tells him to follow her. She tells him that he was being troubled again, and Percy decided not to argue or things could get nasty. So he just said yes to her. But then she tells him to follow her into the museum. She tells him to go in front of him. When Percy is inside the museum, he turns around and doesn't see Mrs. Dodds. But then he hears a voice in front of him and Mrs. Dodds is at the end of the hall. Percy wonders how she got there so fast. But then Mrs. Dodds tells him to go to another room in the museum, and she'll be there. But as soon as he goes there, Mrs. Dodds is in the window. Percy definitely knows something is going on. Then Mrs. Dodds asks Percy where it is. Percy doesn't know what ''it'' is, so he tells her he doesn't know what she's talking about, and Mrs. Dodds attacks him. I loved this book! I recommend it to adventure lovers, and if you want to learn about Greek mythology.

Percy Jackson is an amazing series filled with magic and suspense. There are five books in the series which are all amazing. It is ,personally, the best book in the series.

Percy Jackson is, well, different. He has both ADHD and dyslexia, and has been thrown out from his school every single year. Just as Percy is about to finish a great year without being kicked out, the class has a field trip. Resulting in Percy's teacher becoming a monster, Percy battles her she turns into dust. Shaken up, Percy tells his best friend Grover his troubles. Grover pretends he doesn't know anything about any monsters, but Percy can tell he is lying. Soon, he finds out his father is a god! Yes, Mount Olympus, Greek mythology, those gods! He is sent to a special summer camp for kids just like him, halfbloods. At Camp Half-Blood, his father claims him... Poseidon! But now the great god Zeus's lightning bolt that controls the weather is missing, and Zeus suspects it's Percy who stole it!! Percy, Grover, and his new friend Annabeth set out on the quest of their lives to find Zeus's lightning bolt and prove Percy's innocence. Can they do it? 4/5 stars!

Percy is a 'troubled' kid. He gets kicked out of schools and is always a troublemaker. On a field trip his teacher, Ms. Dodds, turns into a crazy monster and Percy is whisked away to a camp for 'halfbloods' like him. His father is Poseidon and his mother is a mortal, so he has water powers. Can he survive Medusa, Cerberus, and a bunch of other Greek monsters?

I really wanted to read the Percy Jackson series because it's a very popular series. The Lightning Theif is the first book. I like the characters but I didn't really like the way it was written. Everything happened really quickly and without much detail. I don't think I'm going to read the rest of the series.

When Percy Jackson finds out that he is the son of a powerful sea god, it is the beginning of a new life for him! The Lightning Thief describes the start of his adventure. This book is just the start of a his any suspenseful adventures. I would recommend this book to everyone that is 7+. It is a book that you just have to read!

This book is the start of a whole new life for young Percy Jackson. After he, his Mom, and Grover battle their to Half-blood hill, (losing his mom in the progress) Percy gets a quest. He chooses his friends Grover and Annabeth to help him find Zeus's lightning bolt (their quest). They deal with monsters, Lotus eaters, and even a demon selling water beds! Will they be able to find the king of the gods master bolt, before the Summer Solstice? This book is so cool, and it leaves you wanting to be a demi-god. This is the best book ever, and I would totally recommend it.

I love this book. I have been rereading this book for like 5 years. It is so good. It has a really good plot, and I love the way it ties in the Greek gods. Definitely a must read for any fans of the Greek mythology.

The first book in the Percy Jackson series got me started in a journey for reading all the way back in 2nd grade! Ever since then, I've always avidly bought each new PJO book and read it. This book definitely starts the adventure nicely, where you meet Percy, Annabeth, and Grove. They go on a quest to retrieve a lightning bolt that Percy is accused of stealing. There are definitely a few plot twists that will make you doubt yourself. This book is amazing, everybody should read it.
