The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan was great!! Though the book is fictional, the author weaves reality into the story. Problems at school, medical issues, fitting in, etc are some issues at school or in public. Mr. Riordan shows the perspective of a twelve year old as he were that age! Mythology is cleverly woven through hilarious adventures throughout the entire book!! Reading this book is a must!

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

I LOVE this book! My favorite in the series is the third one.
I loved how in the Lighting Thief, they started the story by saying that Percy was a normal kid in boarding school, and afterwards how his year totally changed.
This book is so amazing. I learned Greek mythology while I was reading it, and it was very entertaining. It kept my interest the whole time and it was never slow moving. If you have ever seen the movie, the BOOK IS WAY BETTER!
I can not tell you how much I loved this book! I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series. The book is about a boy named Percy Jackson. He grows up with disabilities (dyslexia) and doesn't understand everything like other kids do. He goes to a private school, and he befriends an older kid, named Grover. Percy finds out Grover is a satyr, who leads him to Camp Half-Blood, where he meets all kinds of people. Percy, Grover, and their friend Annabeth go on a quest to retrieve something for Poseidon.
it was kind of sad because he was kick out from boarding school.
its awsome and i got one for my birthay.
This book was one of the best book I have read by Rick Riordan. The story builds up suspense and will only relieve it when the whole story is over. I look forward to all his other books.
This was an awesome book! i would recommend reading it. Percy has a great sense of humor and the book teaches a lot about Greek Mythology. If you love adventurous and humorous books, then you will enjoy this one. It even has monsters!
The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordon was one of my favorites. This book ties Greek mythology to modern times, making this series not only entertaining but also helping to educate you on the basics of mythology. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mythology or adventurous book series.
