Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Rick Riordan is one of my favorite authors, and the Percy Jackson books are one of my favorite series. I have learned so much about Greek Mythology just from reading his books. I hope he continues to write for a very long time.

Rick Riordian is one of my favorite authors, and I love the Percy Jackson books. I have learned so much about Greek Mythology just from reading these books. I hope he continues to write these for a very long time.

The Lightning Thief is a book that is out of this world. It is about Percy Jackson, who is an ordinary teen who thinks he is not special, but this is where he is wrong. Percy also has dyslexia and ADHD. He has been to multiple boarding schools, and is about to be kicked out of another one when mysterious monsters start chasing him. After his mother and a friend Grover tried to save him, Percy wakes up in a mysterious camp. As time goes on, Percy learns that everyone at this camp are not that ordinary, in fact, they are children of Greek Gods, even Percy himself. It was hard to believe it at first, but slowly everything started to make sense. Percy also learns that he is the only living son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. The gods of the Greek world get into a big fight, mainly between Zeus and Hades. Zeus is the god of the sky and the king of gods, while Hades is the god of the underworld. Hades is suspected of taking Zeus’s thunderbolt, and people from Half-Blood Hill send Percy, Grover, and Annabeth to retrieve it. What will happen next on this unexpected journey to the underworld? Will Percy succeed? Will Percy meet his true father? To learn more, you must read The Lightning Thief. You’ll not regret it! I give this book five stars and recommend this to anyone who wants a fantastic book about demi-God and the challenges in the real world.

A friend recommended this book to me because I love Harry Potter. It did not disappoint me. I recommend this book to anyone that liked the Harry Potter series. It has lots of action and adventure.

LANDOFSTORIESFA LANDOFSTORIESFA

I love the land of stories that is true but I also love the Percy Jackson series it is a great book Percy constantly tries to defend himself and his loves ones

This book is a book about that is based around the Greek Gods. In the story, Percy Jackson, the main character, is struggling with ADHD, dyslexia, expulsion, and etc. Even though Percy is constantly getting expelled, it really isn't his fault. Continue reading to find out all of the adventures Percy goes on.

nice plot line

I liked Luke the best Real good book I loved it and you should realy read it! I and I also reccomend the sea of monsters book 2 its real good

Percy Jackson:the Lightning Thief, is one of the best books I have read in years and it reminds me the most of the Harry Potter series and I recommend this book to anyone who likes that series. Percy Jackson is a miserable teen until he figures out that he is a demigod (a child of a greek god). How will Percy react when people accuse him of being, "the Lightning Thief".

This book is awesome and I would like to see the movie again!!
