Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

I always knew that this was a really popular book but I never actually read it. But since it was on the 2018 summer reading list I thought I might as well read it. And it is SO GOOD! Percy Jackson is a kid that always has a hard time at school. But at his current school his pre-algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds becomes all evil and tries to kill Percy. But Percy ends up vaporizing her and now no one remembers her. You with have to read the book to find out what happens next! I would recommend this book.

Percy has been kicked out of schools 6 different for weird things that happen and he has never met his dad. After the 6th time he and his mom go to the beach. When a crazy hurricane hits his mom takes him to Camp Half - Blood. His mom never had wanted to send him there but his dad did. When his mom disappears he is shocked and his friend brings him to the camp. He later finds out who his dad is and is sent on a quest to return Zeus's master bolt that he was mistakenly accused of taking in 10 days. Will he find it in time? or will all hope be lost?

Percy Jackson is one of the best book series you will ever read! It's fun, smart, sassy, and get's better with each book! The movies do not do this book justice at all!

After i read this book , i got really interested in greek mythology. This was really a great book.. i was on the edge of my seat the whole time. the underworld was creepy. At least Percy knows who is his real dad, the sea god.No more smelly Gabe. I thought the hotel was very cool. if i related to a god, i would choose ATHENA GODDESS OF WISDOM

The Percy Jackson series is amazing. This is one of my favorite books. All of Rick Riordan's books are so well written. I recommend this book to grades 4 and up.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) is a demigod and is going to a demigod camp to get zusus lighting bolt to help his friends Annabeth and Grover.

Percy Jackson is a demigod and goes into a demigod camp. He must find Zeus's lightning bolt. He has the help of his two friends, Annabeth and Grover.

I LOVE adventure tales, which is why I felt this book is awesome! In the story, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Percy figures out that he is a demigod, and soon is enrolled into Camp Half blood along with his best friend Grover, who just so happens to be a satyr and Percy's guide. Totally normal. Anyways, in the camp, he meets a girl names Annabeth and they soon become good friends. Now, Percy, Annabeth and Grover are on a great adventure to return the lightning to the God, Zeus, along with some dangerous obstacles on the way, like meeting Medusa for the first time and having Luke literally trying to kill Percy and stop him from returning the lightning bolt to Zeus. This book was an amazing book which was full of action, and I recommend it.

This first book of the Percy Jackson series starts the adventure of a demigod named Percy Jackson. After having his first accident with water on his most current field trip, he is attacked by a monster and is quickly recruited by Camp Half-Blood. He learns his godly parent is Poseidon, and engages in a quest to stop a godly war between his father, Zeus, and Hades.
