Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

I loved this book, it was AMAZING

random random

this is the story of a girl named Katniss Everdeen, who comes from the Seam in District 12. This means she is not well off and her district mines coal for a living. However, she hunts with her friend Gale outside the fence that encloses the district. When her sister Primrose is chosen to fight to the death in an arena where anything is possible and only one person will survive, Katniss volunteers to save her sister's life. It is tale of adventure and romance, with a complicated backstory. In other words, it is good.

This book is awesome! I first heard this of this book back in fourth or fifth grade, and a lot people said it was really good, like really, really, good (it's a science fiction). So I decided to try it, and when I finished it, I was going crazy for the next book. It's in the voice of a 16 year old, named Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic nation of Panem in North America (and there are 12 districts). So, every year, they have these games called the hunger games, where a boy and a girl between the ages of 12-18 (tributes) gets randomly selected from each district, and they have to fight with each other to death until only one person is left. Katniss Everdeen is from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th Hunger Games after her younger sister, Primrose is randomly selected. Ohhhhhhh I could go on forever, but now you MUST read it...(if you're of age and if your parents let you)...

Well of course it's violent. It's the HUNGER GAMES where people kill each other.
