In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

Omg I love this book it is like the best book in the world SHOULD REALLY WATCH THE MOOVIE TO IT IS TRULLY AMAIZING
I LOVED this book! I like how it takes place in a dystopia and a utopia at the same time (the Seam and the Capitol). The characters are also great. I like how Katniss wasn't a girly girl like how females are portrayed in many books and movies. Not for younger readers.
This book is really good for an adventure story I mean... REALLY GOOD
good book I guess?
This book is a great adventure-love story. It is very touching and there is many parts of the book that will make you cry.
OMG I KNOW RIGHTG IT VERY TOUCHING
I love this book and the others and anyone who loves the games like my comment the games are awesome and if you are a divergent fan you have to read this book you will love it I promise!
I love the movies of the hunger games and the books and my friend Rosie loves reading the Hunger Games.
omg good book
This book was just a complete mess. They took something that happened in real life (ancient rome, panem et circensus) and turned it into something completely different and (I know a lot of people will hate me if I say this) just bad. I just read it because everybody else was and I completely regretted it. If you are thinking of reading this book and think it it going to be good because there were movies with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson about doesn't mean it's all good. - Dingo
