Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is very intriguing and suspenseful. In this novel, 14 people are sent off to an arena for a fight to the death until one person remains. I think that this book was the best book of the trilogy. It had a lot of action and it kept the reader interested. I really enjoyed reading this book and I recommend to readers of all ages.

In a world where the capital controls all 12 districts, every year they hold a special event. One girl and boy from every district is forced to participate in the hunger games. 24 tributes enter the arena and only one comes out. With the exception during the 74th hunger games where two from the same outcast district left alive.

This trilogy is one of the best books I've ever read. I can't even get my eyes off it when I first started. It has a lot of suspense and gripping actions which made it really exciting to read. The movie is also fascinating!

Best book ever. Recommend to anyone between ages 10 and 30. Love it. This is the best/ not-saddest book in the series.

Definitely one of the best books I have ever read. A very good book to read if you like adventures and athletic games. This book describes an event of a typical survival game of 12 people from 12 districts, fighting to earn the title of first place.

I think that this book is amazing. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and rooting for the heroine. It makes you think about what is morally correct, and what lengths you would go to to survive. It's a gripping story with plot twists that will always keep you wondering what will happen next.

This book is awesome! It's suitable for people of all ages. The plot is excellent even though it get quite violent at times. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it.

As the first book of a famous trilogy, Suzane Collins has over done it. I have read all three books, and this one, by far, was the most interesting. With the adventure and suspense, overlapped by the classic love story, this book will entice any reader.
