Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

I am in love with this book and Series and so is my favorite author. And my Mom's friend. It is soooo awesome! I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Suzanne Collins is an incredible writer. She has an incredible fantasy world, that is so realistic, you can't help but think about alot . Almost everyday since I read that book, I think about it. I lay in bed and reread the parts I remember in my mind. You can imagine yourself there. It's a no-put-down-till-you're-done kind of book. A Must REad. The Movies are ok . It was an AWESOME BOOK easily the best of the year!

Hunger games is about a 16 year old girl named Katniss, and district 12, a cruel and unusual capitol. In the begining of the book Katniss has to pretty much be the "head of the house" for their mom is ill and deppresed abot their fathers death.( he died in a rather tragic mineing acident). in district 12 and as well in the other capitols of panem, they have a big ball, well two and they pick a boy and a girl from the ball(s) and they fight to an epic death called "The Hunger Games". toward the middle of the book they battle sickness, death, and extreme temperatures. And of course their opponets trying to kill them every second that their inthe vast arena.lastly in the end she and her best friend must face each-other but refuse, then the capitol, (shockingly allows this) lets both of them win. all thta i have to say is read the book

i thought this book was a very good and intresting book, i dont wanna spoil it so you'll just have to keep reading it (:
