Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.

I think the book is okay. I cant really understand it though.

Have you guys read The Silmarillion too? It's also by J.R.R. Tolkien and covers the backstory of Middle-Earth.

OMG I LOOOOOVEEEEE THE HOBBIT!!!

I liked it because of the movie and that it is very magical and i like it.

Even better then the movie (which is saying something; the movie is great). Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit. He likes eating, sleeping, and relaxing. When the wizard, gandolf, comes and invites him on a adventure, he leaves his little village (shire) and starts hiking with a band of dwarves, some ponies, and Gandolf. Read to find out what happens. This book is awesome, and a great pageturner!

I like this book because it has a amazing aventrure.

My dad is reading this to me and my brother, Awesome so far:)

i have to read this book for school, by dad said its awesome

One word. AMAZING. Even though I saw the first movie before I read the book, I still enjoyed every twist and turn. Tolkien has a delightful voice in the story telling and it makes you really enjoy the adventures with Bilbo Baggins. I laughed, got angry, cheered, and even maybe teared up at many parts of the novel, and now I can't wait to delve into The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Highly recommend!!
