In a discontent kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point -- he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. But Sage's rivals have their own agendas as well.

As Sage moves from a rundown orphanage to Conner's sumptuous palace, layer upon layer of treachery and deceit unfold, until finally, a truth is revealed that, in the end, may very well prove more dangerous than all of the lies taken together.

An extraordinary adventure filled with danger and action, lies and deadly truths that will have readers clinging to the edge of their seats.

This book is so incredible.it has made MY personal top series list. It stands hand in hand with the Chronicles of Narnia (No.1) and the Hunger Games (No. 2) so the Ascendance trilogy is No.2 in my favorite series list. It has a lot of adventure, a tiny pinch of romance, it is a smart book with a great plot, some blood (but no overly graphic violence) and an amazing twst at the end! The perfect recipe for a great book. I recomend it to anyone and everyone.

This book is one of the best books I have read in my life. I would say that it competes with the Hunger Games for being interesting, and it has an amazing plot. The book is set in around medieval times, and is about an orphan who is bought my a noblemen. When he goes into the noblemen's cart he noticed that all the other orphans look like him. It was later explained to him that he is supposed to compete to replace a prince who was supposedly lost at sea. The royal family has been assassinated and the noblemen's plan is to say that the prince survived at sea, and is going to be the king. See how the orphans compete to be the king, and they all know that the other ones who don't win are going to die. read this amazing book with an amazing plot, and you will never be able to put this book down.

Reading this book in block 2 reading. I love this book so far!

Reading Blocks 1 and 2 have to pay close attention as we read this historical fantasy and adventure all rolled into one. We keep getting clues as to the intrigue and mysterious plan of Bevin Connor. I don't think the kids in his care are safe. Do you?

looks good I'll be sure to follow it
