The city of Ember was built as a last refuge for the human race. Two hundred years later, the great lamps that light the city are beginning to flicker. When Lina finds part of an ancient message, she’s sure it holds a secret that will save the city. She and her friend Doon must decipher the message before the lights go out on Ember forever! This stunning debut novel offers refreshingly clear writing and fascinating, original characters.

this book is such an amazing book it has action and a little bit of mystery tied into it and it is really cool I think that you should read it to you will love and really enjoy the book that you are going to want to read all 5 books in the series plus their is a movie.

This book really makes me think, who knows, this could actually happen in the future! When two friends find their way into a mess of puzzles that requires strength, smarts, and agility, to find thier way out of the crumbling city of ember.

This book seems really interesting and super cool! I will try to get it and read it as soon as i possibly can!UPDATE: I have finished reading this book and it is really fantastic. In some moments it really keeps you at the edge of your seat trying to figure out what's going to happen. Not going to spoil anything, but I really liked the way it ended ; )

One of the best series I've ever read!

This was probobly the best book anyone can read! It's about two friends who find their way out of their home, the dying city of Ember. I reccamend this book to everyone who liked to read either Rick Riordan books, J.K Rowling books, and Suzanne Collins books.

I have been reading it with my dad and I think it is cool!

I decided to read this book because it sounded interesting and I read this book for school. I just finished the book recently and loved it and I'm sure you will love it too!

I really enjoyed this book.I am waiting for the sequel but don't have enough patience left. At first the beginning was "so so" (even though Ms. Duprau caught me on fast) the ending is excellent and you have to read the whole thing to get it or even think about reading the 2nd book. Certainly an excellent book. I recommend it.

I'm reading it now it's really good so far !!!

this is a really cool book, you get to experience some people trying to live underground, and some kids that are trying to go back out into the real world.
