Four children have been chosen to compete in a national competition to find the tastiest confection in the country. Who will invent a candy more delicious than the Oozing Crunchorama or the Neon Lightning Chew?

Logan, the Candymaker's son, who can detect the color of chocolate by touch alone?

Miles, the boy who is allergic to merry-go-rounds and the color pink?

Daisy, the cheerful girl who can lift a fifty-pound lump of taffy like it's a feather?

Or Philip, the suit-and-tie wearing boy who's always scribbling in a secret notebook?

This sweet, charming, and cleverly crafted story, told from each contestant's perspective, is filled with mystery, friendship, and juicy revelations.

If you like a nice, big, good, thick book, candy, lollipops, and everything sweet and sticky than this is most definitely the story for you!

I like the imagination and wackiness it reminds me of willywonka! I would say however I dont like how they switch points of views alot. :( thumbs down.

The Candy Makers is a story about kids enter a national candy making contest, one of them hoping to continue in his family tradition of winning the contest. The children make friends, but are still competing against each other. In a struggle to make the best candy, they almost don't notice the cheater.

Willy wonka alert! this book reminds me of willy wonka! you really have to use your imagination.

This is a great book about young people dreaming up impossible candies and then bringing them into the world in a contest to be the best candy. But one of the contestants' father is plotting against the candy company and has made a deal with his son: if he makes the best candy, his father will not destroy the candy company. Not every contestant is entering the contest to win, and there are surprising connections between the contestants. Will the company survive? Only time - and candy judges - will tell. This book has cool twists and turns, a mystery, and a big reveal that changes everything. Thumbs up!

This is a great book! It is about a contest for new candy, with all 12-year-olds, and the writer sorta bounces you around all over the place, so it keeps you in suspense. Okay, so they start out with Logan, who had a terrible accident when he was 5. A lot of people feel sorry for him, and treat him differently, but all he wants is people who will accept him as he is. When he makes it into the contest he's really excited. Next comes Miles. After he saw a girl disappear into a lake, and not come back up, he has been in grief, because he couldn't save her. So when he comes to the contest, and finds a new friend in Logan, he begins to see that life isn't what he thinks. After that, there's Daisy. She's a spy, and she goes undercover in the factory to be able to steal their secret ingredient. Then, when she finds out what they would do with it, she tries to sabotage the plan. Finally comes Phillip. He has been waiting to get his revenge ever since he has lost his friend Logan, and was banned from the candy factory. At least, he thinks that he was banned, until he finds out that his dad lied to him! When he figures out his dad wants to take over the factory, he stands to defend it. At the end, all of the characters come together to help Phillip save the factory. This has a GREAT ending!!!

I am excited to read this book

I'm sorry, but that's kind of like a spoiler. I still liked how you described the characters, though. The book sounds good! Just don't say the ending next time.

Thanks! This sounds like a great book! I will try looking for it at the library.

The Candymakers is a story told from multiple perpectives, each one filling in a piece of the puzzle in the story. There is a young boy who's whole family before him had been amazing makers of candy. There is the spy. There is the rich boy who has been banned from the candymakers' house, and last, there is a wimpy boy named Miles. This is a really good book and it is pretty meaningful it shows how peoples' sacrifice and forgiveness can make a big difference in the world
