The Candy Smash is a Valentines Day themed mystery. It takes place in room 4-O a fourth grade classroom in Hillside Elementary School. The mystery begins when personalized boxes of candy hearts appear mysteriously in everybody’s desk. Everybody’s except for a boy named Evan, whose candy hearts seem to have been bought from a normal store. He also discovers a love of poetry, which he wants to keep secret until his sister publishes one of his poems in the classroom paper The 4-O Forum thinking he will be thrilled. This book is a quick read with an especially thin plot. I read it in a couple of hours. I would recommend it to people that like poetry because there are a ton of poems in the book. This book is more for kids ages 10 and under.
