A good book. It tells the school life of Tom Gates, a very artistic and funny student. It shows his relationship with his sister, with his enemy and his friends.

The top-selling U.K. series for middle-grade readers now crosses the pond!
Meet Tom Gates. When his teachers don’t have their beady eyes on him, he likes to draw pictures and write about stuff, like last summer’s worst camping vacation ever (five merits!), or how much he hates sitting next to nosy Marcus Meldrew, the most annoying boy at school. All Tom really wants is to score tickets to see the best band ever, Dude3, when they come to town, and to impress Amy Porter, who is very nice and smart (but is currently ignoring him). Tom’s teachers think he is easily distracted and "lacks focus," but that’s a bit harsh?—?can he help it if his grumpy big sister, Delia, made him late for school (again), or that last night’s homework had to be sacrificed to stave off a vicious dog attack? Master of excuses, creative storyteller, and middle-school comedian extraordinaire, Tom Gates is guaranteed to get kids turning the pages?—?and keep them laughing.

Tom Gates is one of those diary guy books lke Life of a Stuntboy and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The author infuses comedy, drawing, and astory of a boy, Tom Gates. Meet Tom Gates and adventure through his life concerning his crush, school, Dude 3, and more.
I enjoyed reading this book, it was really funny. It reminds me of the Diary of Wimpy Kid Series. I recommend this book if you want a good laugh! The drawings are funny....
I really don’t like this book because the book is about a boy named Tom Gates who likes to do bad stuff. One bad thing he likes to do is to make his sister Delia get annoyed. Delia hates Tom since he annoys her. A second bad thing he does is drawing pictures when he is not supposed to. Drawing during class makes Tom’s teacher Mr. Fullerman very angry. A third bad thing Tom does is drawing a very rude portrait of his friend’s teacher Mrs. Worthington. Mrs. Worthington did not like the portrait Tom drew of her so Mrs. Worthington said to tom that he has a detention after lunch the next day. She even phoned and sent a note to Tom’s parents. In the end of the book Tom’s teacher wants Tom to do a piece of homework during break because Tom didn’t finish the homework during the term.
