The extraordinary #1 New York Times bestseller that is now a major motion picture, Markus Zusak's unforgettable story is about the ability of books to feed the soul.

It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

In superbly crafted writing that burns with intensity, award-winning author Markus Zusak, author of I Am the Messenger, has given us one of the most enduring stories of our time.

I watched the movie and it was awesome so I plan on reading the book soon.

This book is so awesome! It tells the tale of Liesel Meminger who is living in the time of World War Two. She gains a new family after losing her old one, and finds out that she has a powerful love for books and words.Liesel's life is full of ups and downs, but she is a heroine that can get through anything. She is tough, strong, resilient, and the best book thief that has ever lived! In this book, Death himself follows Liesel on her journey... This book made me laugh and made me cry so hard! Definitely one of my favorite books. I think it's a brilliant book that is worthy of all it's awards!

this book is about a girl in the WW2 time. She likes to read but were she is from they don't like to read. So this is all about her journey as she makes friends, enemies, and even a boyfriend. It is a must read!!!!!!!!!! I read it personally and I think that it is a really good book.

THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a story of a young girl named Leslie. She is 8 when her parents and only brother die. She moves into a house with Rosa and Hans Hubberman in Nazi Germany. Her best friend is is a young boy named Rudy. Later during the book, a 21 year old Jewish man named Max Valdenburg comes to their house. Leslie and Max form a close bond because of their love of books. Soon Max has to leave because Hans tries to save a Jew and a cop writes down his name. Leslie gets very sad but, max leaves a book that he wrote for her. I think this might just be the saddest and funniest book ive ever read.
