A modern-day classic and New York Times bestseller that celebrates the power of individuality and personal expression from beloved Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli.

Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of “Stargirl, Stargirl.” She captures Leo Borlock’ s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first.

Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal. In this celebration of nonconformity, Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves a tense, emotional tale about the perils of popularity and the thrill and inspiration of first love.

Don’t miss the sequel, Love, Stargirl, and Jerry Spinelli’s latest novel, The Warden’s Daughter, about another girl who can't help but stand out.

“Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent. . . . No writer guides his young characters, and his readers, past these pitfalls and challenges and toward their futures with more compassion.” —The New York Times

this book is the bomb

this book is good.....

Stargirl is one of the best books I ever read. The book tells you that it is okay to be different and you shouldn't worry about what other people think about you.

This book was one of my favorites because it shows that if you stick to what you believe good this will happen. It also teaches you that once you have someone you have to keep them because you will realize after their gone that you won't be the same without him of her.

Stargirl is radiant and shows us what we mean. She was a unique individual, when others were rude and heartless to her she stay her self. This was a very insperational book.

This book is definitely one of my favorites! I'm planning on getting a happy wagon, the Stargirl Journal, and leaving lose change on the ground.

A fabulous story of excepting change. This story is about a girl who is not like any one else in her school. She has a mouse as a pet, and wears wedding dresses to school! At first Stargirl ( the name she calls herself) was popular with all the students in school. But suddenly people started going against her, she then become an out cast. The boy who seems to be telling Stargirl's story, falls in love with Stargirl, and also becomes an outcast when he takes Stargirl as a girl friend. The boy who is telling the story realizes that hanging around with Stargirl is difficult, especially when people are ignoring him. So he ignores Stargirl for a while, but they come back together again, and go through more tense struggles.

I read this book last year for JTU. I liked it a lot.

I like this book, my teacher read it to me last year

This is a great book! About a girl who moves to a town where she's different from eveyone! She faces girl drama and makes space out of her bubble! A great book by Jerry Spinelli and you should totally read it! 5 stars!
