As the German troops begin their campaign to "relocate" all the Jews of Denmark, 10-year-old Annemarie Johansens's family takes in annemaries' best friend, Ellen Roxen, and pretend she is part of the family. Ellen and Annemarie must htink quickly when three Nazi officers arrive late one night and question why Ellen is not blond, like her sisters. Through Annemaries' eyes, we see the Danish Resistance as they manage to smuggle almost the entire Jewish population, nearly seven thousand people, across the sea to Sweden. In this tale of an entire nation's heroism, Lois Lowry reminds us that there is pride and human decency in the world even during a time of terror and war.

This book isn't exactly my favorite book but it's okay. It's about a young jewish girl who is living during the time of the holacost and she is hiding at her best friends house who is not jewish. But I can't tell you the rest of the book.

i love this book! it is so amazing! i am very interested in the holocaust but somtimes i just can't bear to think how cold and heartless someone could be?

I am in love with this book- I am very interested in studying the Holocaust, so thats why it is so good to me, but if you are not familiar with the Holocaust and World War II, then you will not undertand the book, but personally, I love it. It is very sad and depressing, so it is not good for young children, but

In 1943 during the Holocaust, Annemarie and her best friend Ellen find out that the Germans attcking their town are capturing Jews. Annemarie's parents have a plan to keep her safe, but will it be enough? Very good and saddening. It's interestingto see this trough her eyes while she know nothing about the special plans her family has.

This book is so fun its about a german soldier who tries to take over the Jews. It is very sad. The German soliders dont treat the Jews nicely. Also Annemarie tried to help Ellen, which is her best friend. She is helping her because Annemarie doesn't want Ellen to die. You should read this book it's very interesting

this book is very, very ,very, sad. its about the jews, and a bit of hitler, but i think that u should read this book

this book has a really creative plot and I'm not even sure how the author thought of some of the stuff in it! I recommend to everyone who enjoys to read and write.

This includes the Holocaust and a girl named Annemarie and her best friend, Ellen. One night, Ellen's parents have to hide somewhere nobody knows. Ellen has to stay with Annemarie and pretend to be Annemarie's sister, Lise, who pasted away. The beginning of the book is really boring, but it's really good once you get into it.

It is about 2 best friend in time of Hitler and the war in Denmark. Ellen is Jewish and is in danger of being killed. Annemarie and Ellen discover the line of life and death and the true meaning of life.

I'm sort of iffy on this book. Not a huge fan but don't hate it. But I don't love it.
