The story is about a girl who learns that being white and not doing anything about segregation is bad and that she needs to stand up. She joins with a girl and learns how to be brave and see the world through somebody else's eyes.
This book is a really good perspective of when America was segregated, in a place in Alabama called Anniston, where there were strong emotions that were mixed about segregation between blacks and whites. What's different about this book is that the protagonist is white and doesn't feel that there should be segregation while most people do. She and a few other people have to stand up to their own opinions; even Billie's dad likes segregation.
It totally is
I'm reading this book. It is amazing!!! If your a fan of historical fiction then read on! This book is about segregation, and a girl named Billie Sims and how she wants to fight with the "blacks" to freedom, after seeing a bus catch on fire:)
it seems like a cool book!!!!
