This book was highly interesting and very imaginative. I loved it! The only things I hated about it were that it had several 'bad' words inside of it so it limits this to older audiences. It included the S-word, H-word and DA-word. Otherwise, I loved it! It's rather hard to describe in a synopsis, but the photographs were very inspiring.

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here - one of whom was his own grandfather - were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a desolate island for good reason. And somehow - impossible though it seems - they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

This was a great book that never got boring. Jake's grandfather left him clues that end up taking him on an adveture where he ends up at Miss Peregine's home for Peculiar Children. That's where he meets a very unique group of peculiar friends.
This book is absolutely amazing. I could never put it down. This novel is mysterious, creepy, funny, and suspenseful. When his grandfather dies and leaves Jack a clue, he must travel to the strange "Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children". As he learns of secrets no one else knows, danger comes and haunts him and his new friends. The ending is a cliffhanger that will make you die with anticipation for the next novel in the series.
Not going to lie, i'm not that fond of reading... BUT, this book was amazing. I seriously loved this book. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time reading it. I did not want to put it down!
I absolutely love this book! Jacob Portman's grandpa (Abe) told Jacob stories about these monster looking things called hollows and wights. The wights and hollows only really attack the peculiars. The peculiars each have a special ability that your average person wouldn't have. As Jacob grew up, he believed in the monsters less and less. One day, after work, Jacob and his friend went to check on Jacob's grandpa and they found him in the backyard dead. Jacob saw a hollow and pointed his flashlight at it. Jacob's friend didn't see it, so Jacob was seen as crazy. Jacob's parents even made him see a therapist (Dr. Golan) and the therapist recommended to go to the island that all that Miss Peregrine and the peculiar children are. That is when Jacob's crazy adventure begins.
A boy, in his desperate search for answers about his grandfathers death stumbles upon a strange island and a mystery waiting to be uncovered. he now has a new mission: save the peculiar and himself! Five stars & totally recomended
On a damp, dark evening, Jacob's grandfather is killed in a tragic accident involving an unknown monster. Believing his senses, the accident sends him on a wild and crazy trip to a faraway island in search of his grandfather's secrets. But Jacob never expected an orphanage full of peculiar, magical children. Following an instinct, Jacob finds out he is too a peculiar and tries to save his family secret. Recommended!
