My name is Michael Vey, and the story I’m about to tell you is strange. Very strange. It’s my story.
To everyone at Meridian High School, Michael Vey is an ordinary fourteen-year-old. In fact, the only thing that seems to set him apart is the fact that he has Tourette’s syndrome. But Michael is anything but ordinary. Michael has special powers. Electric powers.
Michael thinks he's unique until he discovers that a cheerleader named Taylor also has special powers. With the help of Michael’s friend, Ostin, the three of them set out to discover how Michael and Taylor ended up this way, but their investigation brings them to the attention of a powerful group who wants to control the electric children – and through them the world. Michael will have to rely on his wits, powers, and friends if he’s to survive.

Your mothers gone Michael. What do you mean she's gone? Police believe she's been kidnapped. My heart froze, kidnapped, why would somebody kidnap my mother? In this book, a fourteen year old boys mother is kidnapped. they don't want his mother, they want him. Michael is not an average fourteen year old boy, he is special, with a power that is beyond imagine. And this is wanted. He will have to use his power to get his mother back from a powerful, wealthy man who has a vision to change the world with the help of "gifted" children like Michael. He has to make smart choices, for everything he does can be used against him. For him to get his mother back, he will have to beat Hatch, but Hatch has some help. The passage I chose was "The pop and spray of gunfire echoed in the stairwell and a concussion grenade exploded behind Hatch and the guards. One of the guards emerged from the stairwell. "Dr. Hatch, the GP's are attacking from below. We cant hold them for long. There's at least two dozen of them." I chose this passage because of the vivid description, it showed how intense the gunfight was. Also, the short choppy dialogue of the guard showed the desperation of their situation, almost as if he and the rest of the guards had lost hope. If you want a fast paced, action packed, keep you on the edge of your seat book this is definitely for you. It is hard to put down and a great read. I highly recommend this book.
Most people looked at Taylor and Michael as regular 14 year old kids going to high school. Taylor is a cheerleader and Michael is bullied daily. But what few people know is that they are glows. Glows are a group of 13 kids that were born differently and obtained electrical powers. Michael and Taylor have been hunted down for 15 years by people at a place called cell 25 were they will experimented through torture and torment all so these people can find their ways of being electrical. So after being abducted by cell 25 the only question left is can they escape? So if you like and book you cant put down I highly recommend reading this book I'm sure that you will love it just as much as I did!
