Matilda is a sweet, exceptional young girl, but her parents think she's just a nuisance. She expects school to be different but there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a menacing, kid-hating headmistress. When Matilda is attacked by the Trunchbull she suddenly discovers she has a remarkable power with which to fight back. It'll take a superhuman genius to give Miss Trunchbull what she deserves and Matilda may be just the one to do it!
Here is Roald Dahl's original novel of a little girl with extraordinary powers. This much-loved story has recently been made into a wonderful new musical, adapted by Dennis Kelly with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.

i love this book i watched the movie
I LOVED this book. It had great details and was written beautifully! Matilda is both sensitive and brilliant which makes her an extraordinary girl. Her parents though (especially her dad) don't see that at all and treat her as if she were a "scab or bunion" . When Matilda started school at the age of five, and was introduced to her teacher Miss Honey (who all the kids including Matilda love), without even noticing how brilliant she was, Matilda showed Miss Honey that she knows far more than any other five-year-old. She showed her that she knows how to multiply 3 digit numbers mentally, just instantly. She showed Miss Honey the many books she can read and the many words she can spell. Of course, Miss Honey was amazed by this and Matilda was looking forward for a great year with her. However the cruel headmistress, Miss Trunchbull gets in her way. All the children and teachers at school despise her because of her cruelty. She throws kids by their hair with no mercy. She lifts kids up by their ears until they answer a question correctly. Everyone in school is afraid of her. One day, Matilda finds out that she has a super-power. With her super-power, it's up to this one extraordinary girl to defeat Miss Trunchbull for good.
I enjoy reading this book because it teaches matildas parents a lesson and also because she gets to stay with her nice and sweet teacher.
This book was really good. It is about a young girl that was born to a family that didn't really care about her. Her father owned a business where he fixed up cheap cars and sold them for very high prices. One day her father met a school principal named Ms. Trunchbull, who was very mean. Matilda got sent to her school and was treated terribly, along with her entire class and her teacher, who was the principal's niece and was abused when she was young. Matilda tries to get revenge on Trunchbull, both for herself and her teachers - but can she do it - and keep safe?
I think this book is great because it tells of a smart little girl who likes to do things on her own. Her parents don't help her a lot, so it teaches kids to be able to do things on their own.
I think the book is great because it tells of a little smart girl that's trying to do things on her own without help from her parents. This book is good because it teaches kids that they can do some things without their parents.
