This book is marvelous. It's about a girl growing up in a tough family that overcomes it by exploring the wonders of literature. She then finds out that she has special powers that help her and her teacher friend Ms. Honey. Overall, it is an amazing book. I won't spoil anything else, but it's worth the read.

Here is Roald Dahl's original novel of a little girl with extraordinary powers. This much-loved story has recently been made into a wonderful new musical, adapted by Dennis Kelly with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.

Matilda is a TRUE superhero! Her magical powers are ALL due to her rapidly increasing knowledge base because she reads, readS, reaDS, reADS, rEADS, and READS! Funny and emotionally involving, Dahl's novel is among my VERY FAVORITE!
I think Matilda is a great book so far. It is about a very small and smart toddler. She checks out books from the library because her family is out all day. When her father rips her library book, she starts seeking revenge! You need to read this book!
This book is about a girl born into a crazy family that cheats, are bad role models, and doesn't really care for their kids. Why, even on the day she was born, her parents weren't even thinking about her! Matilda knows she isn't meant for this family. She learns how to read on her own by reading her mother's cook book, the only book in the house, and eventually memorizes every word in the book cover to cover. She is a motivated, thoughtful, and VERY nice child who is in a terrible family. She then realizes that she has magical powers. I can't say any more or it will ruin the book. But I'll just tell you this: What i told you has left out a HUGE part of the book.
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK IN THE UNIVERSE! SO FUNNY!
