This book is so funny! It has all the classic Rick Riordan humor! This time it is about Norse mythology. Magnus is a homeless boy who lost his mother. Then he is informed that someone is looking for him. He sees and faintly remembers his cousin Annabeth. (Yes that Annabeth.) Then he dies. No really, he literally dies. Then he is whisked off to a weird world after hearing that his father is actually a Norse God. This book is really good and I recommend it to everyone!

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants, and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.
When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.
Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

This book is Rick Riordan's latest release and an amazing one. Magnus Chase, a sixteen-year-old boy, has to now survive on the streets as a homeless kid, after a fire that killed his mother two years earlier. He finds out that his cousin Annabeth (yes; Annabeth from the Percy Jackson series!) and her father are looking for him, The same day, he comes across his Uncle Randolph, the man his mother said to never come across. Uncle Randolph tries to tell Magnus about his father and he gets Magnus to get The Sword of Summer, which is his supposed father's sword. Magnus winds up facing of with a demonic man named Surt, who is helping the bringing of Ragnorok, the battle of doom for the Asgardians, which he learns about when he sent to Valhalla, the place where heroes go when they die in battle. Rick Riordan starts of this fantastic series with "The Sword of Summer"", which will keep you on the edge of your seat--and in bursts of laughter!
I think this is a really great book by Rick Riordan, he has done many books where different children have the bloodlines of ancient gods. This time, he chose to make a book on Norse mythology, which I find really interesting and refreshing as you don't see people mention Norse mythology about, they usually talk about Greek, Roman or Egyptian mythology, all of which Rick Riordan has made books on. I think that this book is really interesting, in addition to having really awesome action scenes and some really different things happen, I learned a lot about Norse mythology that I didn't know before, like the world tree, elves, Valhalla, the different gods and more. I recommend this book, it is really good.
amazing but I wish riordan would stop with the horses

Loving character and sad ending, but has a good ending. I hate books that has people dying. But it is a part of life. CAN'T WAIT FOR SECOND BOOK!
