A New York Times Bestseller!

The author of the beloved One for the Murphys gives readers an emotionally-charged, uplifting novel that will speak to anyone who’s ever thought there was something wrong with them because they didn’t fit in.

“Everybody is smart in different ways. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its life believing it is stupid.”

Ally has been smart enough to fool a lot of smart people. Every time she lands in a new school, she is able to hide her inability to read by creating clever yet disruptive distractions.  She is afraid to ask for help; after all, how can you cure dumb? However, her newest teacher Mr. Daniels sees the bright, creative kid underneath the trouble maker. With his help, Ally learns not to be so hard on herself and that dyslexia is nothing to be ashamed of. As her confidence grows, Ally feels free to be herself and the world starts opening up with possibilities. She discovers that there’s a lot more to her—and to everyone—than a label, and that great minds don’t always think alike.

I love this book. It is an amazing story about a girl who has a reading disorder and is too afraid to ask for help. When her teacher gets replaced by a sub when her original teacher goes to have a baby the substitute Mr. Daniels sees the struggling smart girl underneath the shy quiet,Ally. The way Mr. Daniels helped Ally with her reading was to keep her after school with fun reading and writing tactics.

Fish in a tree is a book about a girl with dyslexia who everybody thinks is a troublemaker. She suffers throughout school trying to make things right. And to make things worse there is a new teacher who says he is going help her out. But is it a truth when he "betrays her so many times?"

This book is amazing! I've read it about 3 times. I stared to read it last year and fells in love with it. I recommend it for the grades of interest.

it was a good book and i thought it was very book and it was very easy to read. but it was not that hard for a 6th grader to read.

I think this book is awesome even though I just read it half way! The author Lynda Mullaly Hunt makes such awesome books! (I think she only made 3 books)

My book is Fish In A Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. It is about a girl named ally who has dyslexia, and struggles in school. Her teachers think shes a troublemaker, and her classmates think she is dumb. Her brother Travis is different too he's really talented when it comes to machines but school's a different subject. There father is in thew army so the kids don't see him much. Their mom works at a cafe, and Ally goes and visits her after school. Ally is an amazing artist, and has a sketchbook of impossible things. She is getting a new teacher Mr. Daniels, and she thinks he'll be like all the other teachers but her world is about to turn upside down. Want to find out more about fish in a tree then please read the book!! I recommend this book to any one who likes surprises, mystery, and story twists. I also think that you should read this book to see how dyslexia, feels put yourself in her shoes in her perspective.

Ally was always a trouble maker and the classmates always laughed at here, then she got help from Mr. Daniels. She became friends with Keisha and Albert. She was thinking reading was impossible, but it started to become possible.I like how it describes all of Ally's feelings.

I think its sad that Ally didn't tell anyone that she couldn't read

Ally can't read but she can usually cover that up by making everyone laugh. That is she used to. Everything changes when Ally gets a new teacher named Mr. Daniels. He sees that Ally is very bright and wants to give her a chance. I really liked this book! It reminded me of the Mr. Terrupt books a little.
