This first book in Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.

One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior's society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she's determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

And don't miss Veronica Roth’s thrilling novel Carve the Mark.

This book is one of the best books I've ever read! It is better than Insurgent, and Allegant. It has lots of action and adventure. It gets you hooked on the book. It is so interesting and fun that you can barely put the book down. The book also has a great job describing the characters, and the characters were amazing! I suggest this book to anyone thinking about reading it!

I could not put this book down. I read it even during homework time

This book was amazing! I am not lying I literally spent hours past my curfew reading this book! It was so good. I loved how the characters had really developed from the beginning to the end of the book. I also love how the author gives the characters some huge challenges to face and many decisions to make. I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoy asking "what if" questions, the future, action and adventure, and science fiction.

I really want to read this book because I heard a lot of great reviews about how it's funny, adventurous, and even more! My friend read all three and she really liked it and recommends it to all of her friends.

This book is good but different from the movie

the movie is better.

Of all the books in the series, this was my favorite. although I did read this book in a younger age (6th grade) I reccomend it for older audiences, for the plot line may seem either confusing or completley inappropriate as the series continues on. Even it does not hold any 'experiences' for Tris, it does hint, and sometimes her... uhmm.... tests/hallucinations (blanking out) show some innapropriate scences and hinting. But I really loved it :) .

I want to read this book so bad then watch the movies see witch one is better

I think the book will be much better

This was a really good book.......the characters were convincing and it had subtle humour.........so I liked it a lot.......... younger readers might like to put it off until you are older -your wish :) was it just me or could you all figure out the plot? 0_0 it was a really good book plus it was a young author!!! :D

This book was very thrilling.
