This first book in Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.

One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior's society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she's determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

And don't miss Veronica Roth’s thrilling novel Carve the Mark.

I love the movie and the book it's awesome

I loved it! If you have read the Hunger Games novels then you will love this series, where Tris is not like the other people is her city. She is different and people like her should be very afraid. She is not wanted in this city. Will she stay alive? Read and find out.

I came across this book a couple years ago when some people in my grade started reading it. At first I thought it was the COOLEST thing, but then I read some other books and moved on. Good for 5th-12th grades, I'd say. A bit violent, but not until the end overall with the exception of FOUR (I did NOT like him at all) a good read.

I love this book! It's so interesting and unpredictable with an unexpected romance intertwined through the plot.

WELL, I PICKED THIS BOOK BECAUSE I LOVE THE MOVIES AND FOUR IS AWESOME

i havent read all of it but it's great

This is a great book to read if you're into dystopian novels! I finally got around to reading this series this year, and I thought it was a great book with a very talented author!

i have all of them

Divergent is my favorite book of all time. It is a great and very interesting story. This book tells how Tris goes through many changes and learns be herself. She also makes some great friendships, but my favorite part was how she showed that girls can do just as well as boys can if we put our minds to it. This book is great and I totally recommend it.

I love this book a lot. I read this book and instantly had to have the next one. This became my all time favorite book series. The movies didn't really cover all the important things that were needed which made me mad. Anyways this book is the BEST, you should read it!!!!! ; ) Also if you have read the Hunger Games and liked that series you will like this series A LOT as well.
