This first book in Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.

One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior's society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she's determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

And don't miss Veronica Roth’s thrilling novel Carve the Mark.

I’ve heard it’s good, but I’m in the middle of so many other books to read.

It all starts with her aptitude test. She just did the things she would normally do, yet somehow things went wrong. Tris had never heard of someone getting three factions on their aptitude test, yet she did. Abnegation, the selfless; Dauntless, the brave; and Erudite, the intelligent. She was told she was Divergent. She was told she was dangerous. The Choosing Ceremony comes around and Tris chooses Dauntless. There she meets new friends and a brutal initiation process. She starts secretly dating her instructor, Four. But on the last night as an initiate, she wakes up in the middle of the night to find everyone under a simulation- everyone, that is, except the Divergent. What will she do when every Dauntless raids another faction without knowing what they are doing. They are being controlled. And Tris is immune.

olliebob that was epic review

I heard it from my friends

I LOVE Divergent! A perfect coming of age novel like this one needs several nominations at least. Tris's struggles with divergence are beautiful and well written I felt like I was right inside the dauntless compound and could see myself on top of the Hancock building. I could barely put the book down!

I love Divergent. I think I know how Tris (Beatrice) feels not fitting in anywhere and fitting in multiple places all at once. I think if a was Tris I would have picked Dauntless too. I love having so much adrenaline and doing crazy things

This was really good! I took a quiz, and I found out that I am divergent.

I love DIVERGENT. I love dystopian futures(a messed up future for society), and DIVERGENT's is definitely one of them. I am reading INSURGENT right now, and let me tell you, things don't get much happier for Tris(Beatrice). So much suspense at the end, I'm glad I didn't have to wait to pick up the next book because I had already downloaded it on my tablet. I love DIVERGENT.

this is the best book of all time the book seems long and short at the same time.

i've seen all the movies and i loved them i also read the book divergant it was great
