Ivy June Mosely and Catherine Combs, two girls from different parts of Kentucky, are participating in the first seventh-grade student exchange program between their schools. The girls will stay at each other’s homes, attend school together, and record their experience in their journals. Catherine and her family have a beautiful home with plenty of space. Since Ivy June’s house is crowded, she lives with her grandparents. Her Pappaw works in the coal mines supporting four generations of kinfolk. Ivy June can’t wait until he leaves that mine forever and retires. As the girls get closer, they discover they’re more alike than different, especially when they face the terror of not knowing what’s happening to those they love most.

Phyllis Naylor makes it feel so real that I had emotions. It must be hard for both the girls because they don't know how it would be at each other's houses.
Two girls, one from a rich area and one from a very poor area, trade places through a school program. Some things were predictable and some things weren't. I was curious and ended up really liking the book because of all the twists and turns. I don't want to give away the story so I'll leave it at that. I hope you'll read it and enjoy it as well.
This is a great book written by phyllis reynolds nailor.I really enjoyed it because it's about two girls that are participating in this program and they end up staying at each others houses to see how each other lives.Tragedy strikes for Catherine when her mom has a heart problem and she is stuck at Ivy June's house. They get into a little quarrel, but the ending is very happy for both girls. They make a happy friendship that lasts.Any girl (or boy) would enjoy this book!
This is SO GOOD! Catherine and Ivy June live totally different lives. When they are in an exchange program together, Ivy June lives with Catherine for a while, then Catherine lives with Ivy June. They soon become good friends. This so awesome! One of my favorite books.
I loved it so much to, her great grandma is 100 that is old.
This is one of my FAVORITE books!!
Two Kentucky girls get into this switchup their schools are doing. One of them is really poor, and the other is quite average. They take turns living with the other for two weeks. That's all I got so far. READ IT.
