On June 5th and 6th 2012, people all over the world had the rare opportunity to see Venus as it made its way around the sun. Unfortunately, thanks to foggy skies, time of occurrence or simply lack of the right equipment, many of us missed this once-in-a-lifetime event - One that will not take place again until 2117....

Less than two weeks ago, some lucky earthlings were able to witness a rare event - A 'Ring of Fire' Solar eclipse. Now, there is another event heading our way - A glimpse of Venus as it orbits in front of the sun, something that will not be visible again until at least 2117. The good news is that people all over the world will be able to see it, just at different times....

In the wee hours of Tuesday May 22nd, NASA scientists counted down the launch of SpaceX Dragon, the world's first privately built spacecraft. Given the number of things that could have gone wrong, even the experts were not sure the mission would be a success. However, everything worked like a charm and the Dragon re-entered earth on Thursday morning with a big splash in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, about 500 miles off the coast of Baja California, Mexico....

On Tuesday May 22nd, at 3.44 am Eastern Standard Time scientists at Florida's Kennedy Space Center celebrated five decades of Space adventure with an unprecedented event - The launch of the first privately built spacecraft....

For the first time ever, scientists have been able to detect a light from an alien 'Super-Earth'- A class of planets that are bigger than earth, but lighter than giant planets like Neptune. Called the 55 Cancri e, it is one of five-planets that orbit around their star, 55 Cancri....

Mercury, the smallest and innermost of all planets has always been thought to be rather dull, one where no evolution takes place. Besides the fact that it has no atmosphere and a strong iron core, It's most exciting feature was the narrow ridges that scientists believed evolved millions of years ago, when the planet was first formed - Now it turns out, there may be more to this tiny mysterious planet, than meets the eye....

Launched by NASA in 2009, the Kepler Spacecraft's main mission is to scout the Milky Way galaxy for planets similar to ours. Besides finding some interesting prospects, the spacecraft has also been able to detect a few other interesting celestial objects. However, few are as intriguing as its latest find - A mysterious dark alien planet that NASA scientists call TrES-2b....

Whenever we hear about a NASA mission, it is normally to a destination that lies beyond our atmosphere - However, a team of scientists is currently preparing for an underwater mission and this, is not the first time they have done it....

It took NASA's spacecraft, MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, Geochemistry and Ranging, AKA MESSENGER, six and a half years and some clever maneuvering - But on Thursday March 17th, the unmanned spacecraft made history by successfully entering the 12 hour elliptical orbit of our solar system's innermost planet, Mercury....
