Any designer can make a wedding dress from fine silk, satin or chiffon, but it would surely take true talent to create a chic wearable gown from nothing but toilet paper, glue, tape and needle & thread. That, is what 1,100 budding designers were allowed to use for the 'Cheap Chic Weddings 2013 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest' the winners of which, were announced in New York City, on June 6th, 2013.

And if you think the tissue gowns were anything less than those created from the finest materials, think again - For these elegant beauties featured intricate patterns with ruffles, pleats, lace effects and even faux embroidery all cleverly crafted from the seemingly fragile tissue paper. Now in its ninth year, the fun contest is a collaboration between Chic Cheap Weddings.com and Charmin the purveyor of fine toilet paper who besides sponsoring the contest, also donates the raw materials to all the entrants.

All entrants begin by sending three digital photos of their creations. Six finalists are then asked to mail their gowns to New York City for closer examination. They are whittled down to the final three who are then flown to the 'Big Apple' for the award ceremony. The overall winner, who receives $2,000 USD is decided by the general public via an online vote.

This year's Charmin wedding dress designer was Mimoza Haska from South Carolina. Her intricate outfit complete with a tiara, was made using 16 rolls of Charmin Ultra Soft tissue, glitter glue, glow-in-the-dark glitter glue, Elmer's glue, paper tape and a needle & thread.

While Susan Brennan who won the contest in 2011 and 2012, could not pull off a three-peat, she still impressed the public enough to come in second place with her floor-length, halter-neck gown that she crafted with eleven rolls of Charmin and some packing tape - What was stunning about her creation is that it could even be converted into a shorter party dress for the bride to wear at the reception! She received a gift card worth $500 US Dollars for her efforts.

The third prize of $250 US Dollars went to Fort Lauderdale resident Carol Touchstone, for her creation that she dubbed 'Coastal Wave', made from about 20 rolls of Vintage Pink Charmin toilet paper! We for one cannot figure out how these amazing women not only created the stunning outfits, but also, managed to put them on the mannequins without shredding them to pieces!
