Wow! I absolutely loved this book! "Indian Captive", by Lois Lenski, is about a girl named Mary (Molly) Jemison who gets taken captive by Indians (I prefer the term Native Americans) in the 1700s. She endures many hardships along her journey, but she also makes valuable friendships and learns important lessons. The Indians teach her many things about nature and the way they live their life. One of the most amazing things about this book is that it is a true story! Mary Jemison was a real person, and a very fascinating one! I hope that you are able to read this book, because I highly recommend it. Happy reading!

Mary's new life was not easy. She missed her family terribly, and she was unaccustomed to Seneca ways. Several times she even tried to run away. But the Indians were kind to her and taught her many things about the earth, its plants, and its creatures. She became a sister to animals and to all growing things. Then Mary was finally given the chance to return to the world of white men. But she had also become a sister to the Indians. How could she leave them?
Based on a true story, here is the unforgettable tale of the legendary "White Woman of the Genesee."

I think it is a very good book for 10 to 12 year old's, the words might be a little hard to understand, but other than that it is a very good book.
It's about a girl that gets kidnapped by Indians and they treat her like there own.
I am reading this book in class, and honestly this book is great. I wouldn't of picked this book, but I realized that some non-fiction books are really great. I am so sad when we have to put the book down!

Historical fiction - author did a great job researching and telling the story of Mary Jemison. Great way to connect studies of the Senecas, French, Haudenosaunee League, use of the Longhouse, the 3 sisters, etc.
This book was soo good and touching. I was crying in several scenes in the book! It is just so damn good!
I have already read this book a couple times, but I am reading it again right now. It is a pretty good book!
